To be fair, many industries have incentive to predict good markets.

Automotive, luxury, finance, etc... None of these benefit from recessions.

These people need to sell you, that you will have a job tomorrow.

There is definitely no planned obsolescence.

There are specifications. We don't buy overkill material.

At worst, we stop tracking issues of they are too old, like after 5 years of use.

Edit, due to HN limits. The person below me doesn't understand engineering and how specs work. You make your product at specific costs and quality. Not everything can be made out of titanium.

The difference is that, with GM, you expect your car to move you.

With Tesla, you are showing off that you bought a luxury vehicle.

It's surveying a different question.

As someone in automotive, if anything breaks on your car, it's worst case scenario.

In 2019, people don't want their cars to break at all. Even a trivial matter might have you lose a customer.

I have no idea how they became second/third place in computers, but they definitely have left a terrible legacy for developers to deal with.

Moving away from Apple means significantly lower development costs, and more time on universal platforms.

I'm not sure why someone would buy an Apple product outside the Fashion statement, but they have set the industry back from a software POV.

Oh man people are addicted to reading the ideas of strangers.

The end is near /s

Although the real dangers are that those ideas shared could be bad.

Unobtrusive? Try having a legitimate criticism of Apple. Odds are it gets flagged.

I don't mean to limit it to Apple, the mods have a heavy hand.
