Also dropped support for FireWire drives, as I just found out the hard way.
Re:Mac at Any Scale on Tuesday November 03, 2026 @11:11AM (#50353830)
> A well-known limitation is that Apple only allows two macOS VMs per physical Mac. It can be a Mac Pro with 24 cores and 192 GB memory, yet it is limited to running only two guest VMs. This limitation leaks into our product offering: we can only slice Mac resources in two halves. So we run instances with 6 or 12 cores on 14-core Mac Minis and 8/16-core instances on 18-core MacBooks (we reserve a couple cores for management overhead).

Say more? I'd really like to understand the difference.
How does it compare to Zulip?
Re:Bringing uv and ty together on Friday October 23, 2026 @11:42PM (#50218191)
Thank god it has opinionated quirks that old timers dislike.

Otherwise we'd still be stuck in the complete dumpster fire that was the python packaging/venv we had for the previous 20 years.

Agreed. I tried signing in and immediately hit a paywall. Can't wait to be spammed.

That said, some nifty ideas that aren't hard to prompt / reference oneself. Thanks from a swe who's terrible at design but does care about it!

Re:Game of Life โ€“ But Multiplayer, Hypermedia and Python on Thursday October 15, 2026 @05:27PM (#50110551)
Neat! I implemented something similar (real time playing along with GoL) for desktop:

Beautiful.
Interesting! Raw JavaScript writes to an ImageData buffer enlarged to canvas. No 3rd party libs or WGSL

exactly why I love it...

Re:Spinal: A near-instant, predictive surface for any codebase on Thursday October 08, 2026 @09:07PM (#50014729)

Ok, but what is it?

Thanks for the $$ I'm about to spend  :sob:
Re:Web Search API on Monday October 05, 2026 @11:21AM (#49966029)
I've been working on a TypeScript package to provide a unified search API across these providers:

https://github.com/hbmartin/agent-web-search

So this gives a unified search experience without adding another cloud hop and dependency.

"I am going to make sweeping generalized statements about an entire industry after two whole weeks of experience at one single company"... ok
HN: This site looks like all the other slop, awful to read.

Also HN: This site is doesn't look like other sites, awful to read.

That's not what the original comment is saying at all (if I'm reading it right). It's saying that negative results are valuable knowledge that are difficult to discover and collate since they tend to never be published. Nice high horse tho.
Re:Jev: New frontier model 40-400x cheaper and 20-200x faster on Wednesday September 16, 2026 @12:54AM (#49722252)
Am I the only one struggling to parse the distinction System One (the system/harness?) and Jev (the model?)?
Agree, this was really a beautiful thing to see!
Is this even still under development? Last non-renovate commit was early June

Re:Nvidia to Acquire Hugging Face on Thursday September 03, 2026 @03:50PM (#49555776)
This is the most compelling case I've come across:

https://www.decodingdiscontinuity.com/p/nvidia-hugging-face-...

tldr; Acquisition is an option on Hugging Face becoming the distribution and data-creation infrastructure for open physical AI.
