Ask HN: Is it ok to pursue master in cs at Maharishi University of Management?

I am a software engineer from Nepal. I am thinking of studying Master in CS at Maharishi university of Management at Fairfield, Iowa. University seems pretty good and is affordable since I only have to pay max. $7000 in the beginning and it provides paid internship after 1st year at college and remaining fees is deduced from the earning. However I have found many negative reviews about...

Ask HN: Why is Memristor revolution pending?

It has been a long time since first news about Memristor came. News about new research findings arrived at times but since long time it is not in news and it seems like it is a failed finding. Why is it not revolutionizing the memory market?

I am from Nepal. Its definite that nobody here can buy licensed copy of Photoshop. People ocassionally buy original Antivirus copies. Selling software in such a market is tough. I have just completed Bachelor of Software Engineering. Developing countries are being able to provide world class education but market is definitely not what they can provide. Creating this software was my friend's idea and he is definitely going to give me share from his earning by making cards but selling software in developing countries is tough since people still think intangible things should be free. Changing this mindset is a big challenge and I am still trying to convince some of the potential customers.

I built an application to solve a problem but got nobody to buy it

I have built a Windows Desktop Application to solve a problem, the problem of creating Identity cards of a large number of students/staffs. The creation of ID card is generally done with photoshop and separately edited for each card, arranged in a sheet of 10 cards. I automated this whole procedure. I showed this application to people who make ID cards in manual way and have suffered a lot in...

Re:Ask HN: I'd like to learn how to build a computer on Tuesday March 05, 2013 @10:18AM (#5324883)
The best book for this is "Elements of Computing System" by Noam Nisan and Shimon Schocken. It starts from basic gates and then higher to build more complex parts. The book website provides all the necessary emulators and programming tools that help you to build a emulated computer and then build OS and application softwares on top of it. I have not really gone through the whole book and practiced what it wants to teach us because of my busy academic schedules but hope to complete it someday soon.

Ask HN:How do you manage to go through loads of infos to build a product?

Everytime I want to learn some topic, I learn many things about it but never seems to be sufficient to build a product. I am of course talking about the programming and technology stuffs. suppose when I want to learn about javascript I get started soon but then I am lost within tons of information about it, the books, documentation, videos and never reach to build some product I am proud of....
