I feel like my house is never clean/tidy enough.
You say that, but I have been trying to find a non-smart TV for months, Consumers don't always have much choice.
I can remember a lot from being a child. Mostly a sense of frustration and powerlessness.
But also the way in which things seemed more interesting than they do now. Like I could be fascinated by watching a tree sway in the wind in a way which wouldn't happen now - at least, not without conscious, meditation style effort. I remember when an hour seemed like an almost intolerably long stretch of time.
I also remember loads of events in visual detail, though I'm terrible at remembering when they happened.
A vent: why is it any of your business why I had X months without work? Maybe I had enough money not to work for a bit and felt like doing something different. Why am I obligated to continuous labour even when I don't need it. Why am I subject to your judgement for not renting out my life at every possible moment?
Well, no, but you can't survive on oranges either!
Why citrus, specifically? Are they especially profitable?
That's a great idea, shame I don't know anything (spot the Philosophy graduate!)

I'm about to lose my job to AI and offshoring - a job that started well, but which I ended up less than ecstatic about. I'm wondering - what else can a software developer do that isn't also vulnerable to AI? Whenever you Google this, you get things like "Manager", "Product Manager" etc., but it strikes me that if software engineering is decimated by AI then many of these roles may be next in...
> I never fully went back to it, due to fear of getting sick
Does running long distance increase the chance of getting sick?
Me too, actually. Still need to get my family off Whatsapp though...
Might buy a second copy. Can always give it away.
They elected a Jewish leader, so not that anti-Jew.

I used to be fat, currently I'm not. A lot of people who hadn't seen me in a while congratulated me. After that I haven't noticed much difference TBH.
If self-determination means an enthnostate then no people has that right. If every ethnic group had its own state in which it was guaranteed supremacy, the world would be a complete mess. It doesn't work. We are seeing in Israel/Palestine a thoroughly worked out example of why it doesn't work, and what the consequences are when you try to make it work.
Well that's "think about the Roman Empire" ticked off my daily todo list.
I wonder if this is why I also can't log in to O'Reilly to do some "Docker is down, better find something to do" training...
Why did they laugh? They drone kill plenty of people.
Pay off my mortgage, do a masters, have a nice holiday. Probably not the most financially sensible thing, but its what I would like to do.
Mediocre success makes the world go round.
It isn't victim culture to not like an advert.
Apple's customers don't like the advert. There's not point in Apple arguing with them. Its like trying to argue with someone about whether a joke is funny. If they didn't laugh the first time, having a debate about it just makes it worse.
Naively I wonder if the tendency towards "plausible bullsh*t" could be problem here? Making very convincing legal arguments that rest of precedents that don't exist etc.
If they get rid of the libraries the savings will be used for tax cuts. Guarantee it.
But then, when chimps and gorillas do something human-like, it inspires laughter and delight rather than discomfort.
I have sometimes wondered if ideas about dwarves, gnomes, trolls or other vaguely human-shaped mythical creatures might have originated in encounters with other, now-extinct human species.
That deadline has passed, but I was living in a one bedroom flat making no money at all at 25, as were most of my friends.
I wish I lived in a society where I could have a kid at 25 rather than 35 without messing up my life. I feel like we ignore how nice it must be to have another 10 years with your parents in your life.
But you can't e.g. prove your ability to manage without being given a team to manage...
Even better, have time-limited temporary promotions, which automatically revert after 6 months or a year. Permanent promotions are generally only available to those who have done a temporary promotion in the past.
That gives the organisation a way to tell if you are ready for permanent promotion, but removes the humiliating experience of "not passing your probation".
