Interesting, you’re still paying about $5k an hour from what I can see though. If you want to fly private and can afford it, it’s possibly a good deal.
Re:Ask HN: How to Block Apple's Spyware on BigSur? on Saturday November 14, 2020 @08:51AM (#25092271)
Thank you, I didn't know that.
Re:Ask HN: How to Block Apple's Spyware on BigSur? on Friday November 13, 2020 @04:13PM (#25087562)
There's a few solutions:

LittleSnitch 4 can continue to work (with the kext) on Big Sur following this: [1]

LittleSnitch 5 can block all protected MacOS processes by following this: [2]

Murus can use PF and block IPs for Apple services: [3]. This isn't per process, and is really just a UI for the built-in PF process.

If you'd like to block the notarization check, you can block trustd (/usr/libexec/trustd) access to ocsp.apple.com (on both system and user process ownership in LittleSnitch).

Hope this helps. It's really not as bad as you think, there's a few solutions depending how thoroughly you want to block things.

I believe you can still block the specific destination IPs with pf using murus if you want, but yes it's quite bothersome.

You can find the full list of apps that bypass it here: /System/Library/Frameworks/NetworkExtension.framework/Versions/A/Resources/Info.plist under ContentFilterExclusionList.

Re:FreeYourMusic lets users migrate their playlists off Spotify on Wednesday October 14, 2020 @10:20PM (#24784143)
Yep, I was just noting it for anyone else that tried it and was curious.
Re:FreeYourMusic lets users migrate their playlists off Spotify on Wednesday October 14, 2020 @10:19PM (#24784140)
Yep, it is, I was just noting it in case someone was wondering why it was being wonky after trying it out.

I already did just to test it out, the results include a 'next' link that you can use :)

It works, but the tracks api is limited to 100 max results, so you have to call it multiple times with offset for larger playlists [1].

Re:I don’t have time for coding challenges on Friday September 11, 2020 @03:27PM (#24446419)
I disagree with the author. A coding challenge is a good way to judge how a candidate approaches a problem. The ability to walk through what you’re thinking while you’re doing it is a great judge of ability.

It also helps to weed out people who can’t actually program, this comes up annoyingly often.

I agree that having intentional errors in a starter repository is bad though.

I've donated and shared the link with others, best of wishes <3
Looks great, what's the advantage over SaatchiArt? Is it just a competing service?

Couple things that I'd like to have:

1. Filter by full pricing

2. Filter by canvas / wood / etc.

3. Filter by oil / acrylic / etc.

For the author: any tips or recommendations for electric curtains? I'd love to automate that.

Re:Capital One Says Breach Hit 100M Individuals in U.S on Monday July 29, 2019 @08:44PM (#20561052)
Why am I finding out about this from the news and not an email from Capital One themselves? I wish there was legal liability to inform customers in the event of a data breach.
Re:Google Is Turning Off the Works-with-Nest API on Tuesday May 07, 2019 @08:59PM (#19854940)
I do. I have a command line nest app that I use to control my temperature.
It sounds like they talked with her surviving family and got permission. The second half of the article is from them.
Re:Ask HN: Improving the world as a software developer on Saturday January 19, 2019 @03:56PM (#18949114)
I can't tell from the site, but are these volunteer projects full time endeavors? Or is this something that you commit a couple hours to every other day?
People have to eat, and it's an available way to make money. In other African countries (at least in the East which I'm more familiar with) the government has been trying to combat the charcoal trade. The government in Nigeria has less of a presence though, so it's probably been difficult and not a top priority.

This is all speculation though.

I imagine people are burning it to make charcoal they can sell.
Re:A Hotel Room Hacking Spree (2017) on Tuesday January 01, 2019 @07:59AM (#18800012)
It’s an interesting story, but it’s rather sad. I really hope he gets the help he needs in prison and avoids falling back into his old lifestyle.

Re:The Making of Prince of Persia (2011) [pdf] on Sunday August 26, 2018 @12:31PM (#17846584)
That's really interesting, here's the link to the full book:

I bought it immediately upon finishing the PDF, and my Kindle's battery is dead..

That is a brutal response from Match and IAC. Their statement also mentions that two separate banks were part of the valuation. I'd be curious what their proof is. A couple fun phrases from the statement:

> his merry band of plaintiffs

> but sour grapes alone do not a lawsuit make
