News for hackers. Stuff that matters.

Argon ran out so fast on the $20 Pro plan that it's practically unusable. I can't imagine how restrictive the limits must be for Carbon.

For fun. All knowledge is beneficial, including what may not directly help with your job, but nonetheless will make you smarter and better at solving problems. This over-technical approach to knowledge is actually sad...
Terrible title. I was hoping to see more interesting comments on the story, haha!

Great post!
Re:OpenAI and Anthropic oversold AI security breaches on Saturday September 19, 2026 @04:23PM (#49769819)
Hard agree on that one.
Congrats, Victor!

É ótimo ver um brasileiro criando algo tão único!

Read the damn code and readme, for god's sake!
Tests aren't proofs.

Some things in this post are so unbelievable that it just might be bullshit.
Re:Creepy Crawlies on Sunday August 30, 2026 @03:45PM (#49502081)
Great chart! Does anyone know what tool was used to make this?
Re:Ask HN: GitHub employees what's going on? Why? on Monday August 17, 2026 @12:07PM (#49333268)
GH isn't good enough to charge that much for its core services. 90% of its user base would just find better or cheaper alternatives, and the only ones remaining would be legacy enterprise codebases that are just impossible or too expensive to migrate.

Mostly in rural regions, but the 'filtro de barro' water from your grandma's house beats ANY expensive filter you can get, haha!

Holy! This is one of the best articles i ever read here. Really, really cool.
Re:Businesses with ugly AI menu redesigns on Wednesday July 22, 2026 @09:57AM (#49006929)
Yeah, this thought is lame. It's not so bad in other areas, but in food, I would really like to see REAL pictures of what I'm about to order. I mean, "fake" or deceitful pictures always existed, but at least there were real ingredients and so on. I will NEVER boycott some family restaurant because the menu is AI generated, but it is tasteless and I prefer not to see it.
Re:Businesses with ugly AI menu redesigns on Wednesday July 22, 2026 @09:52AM (#49006860)
I live in Brazil, and on our delivery apps (like iFood), AI photos have become a plague. It's so bad seeing pictures with that distinct GPT look. You just don't know what your rice and beans will look like.
Re:98% Isn't Much on Tuesday July 07, 2026 @10:59AM (#48818763)
That's why things never get better. I mean, i'm all out for retrocompatibility, but if removing something makes my experience much better and unfortunately the thing stops working for 2% of the people with outdated devices/browsers, it's not that sad, but the tradeoffs need to be measured.

I've been in the two ends of this situation, in the 2% with older iPhones and Android devices, and in the 98% with new devices. The 2% cannot hold a tyranny over the absolute majority, and vice versa. Everything must be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Suddenly "caralho"!
Re:Wake up! 16b on Saturday May 23, 2026 @10:17PM (#48253686)
I'm really impressed. Those are the things that made me love programming and computing. It's all so beautiful, it's TRULY art. It's a shame that in the industry we don't usually have the opportunities to make something like that, with AIs and all that...
It's a shame that Microsoft allows those companies to just spy on their users in this way.
Re:Gemini 3.5 Flash on Tuesday May 19, 2026 @08:23PM (#48201479)
Gonna try it.
Re:Gemini 3.5 Flash on Tuesday May 19, 2026 @04:05PM (#48198727)
That's one solution to the problem. But it still needs some good computational capabilities. Either we optimize the hell out of those models, or we wait for the hardware to become good enough for them.
Re:Gemini 3.5 Flash on Tuesday May 19, 2026 @03:35PM (#48198303)
We need another "Deepseek moment" or else it will become impossible for the regular dude to use AI. It will become something that only big companies can afford.
Re:Killed by Apple on Monday May 11, 2026 @11:51AM (#48096640)
If anything, this website provides a great track record for Apple. Most of the discontinued products are either ancient or just got rebranded, and many stayed alive way longer than expected (iPod Touches until 2022??!!).
Re:John Ternus to become Apple CEO on Monday April 20, 2026 @06:00PM (#47841560)
I agree with everything you just said. That’s exactly my take on it.
Re:John Ternus to become Apple CEO on Monday April 20, 2026 @05:58PM (#47841525)
It's uneven in my experience. OS-wise (Android, ChromeOS), I've had some big and frustrating problems. On the other hand, I really like some of their web apps (Drive, Docs).
Re:John Ternus to become Apple CEO on Monday April 20, 2026 @05:56PM (#47841504)
I kinda agree with this. But that doesn't affect my statemente.
Re:John Ternus to become Apple CEO on Monday April 20, 2026 @05:55PM (#47841492)
This!
Re:John Ternus to become Apple CEO on Monday April 20, 2026 @05:54PM (#47841475)
It's not great, ofc. But I find myself less disgusted by it.
