Yep! In our tests, we found Zig to be a pretty good fit to translate C++ codebases.

And static analysis + agents are good enough at keeping the memory management in check. Compared to Rust, there's no magic so it's easy for devs and agents to reason about.

There are both good and aspects of the AI "revolution". Yes, it's easier than ever to create free software.

But wrote just yesterday on a related impact of AI agents on open source repos: https://medium.com/@hbbio/when-software-becomes-cheap-trust-...

Re:I made a build profiler to understand Bun's compile times on Sunday September 13, 2026 @05:14AM (#49681772)
Zig 0.17 should solve this with incremental compilation. What you said will stay but should only apply for the first compilation.
Just in case the model has ADHD too, I am using a minified version of it:

Yes, and they specifically mention "Up to 10.7x faster LLM prompt processing in LM Studio" which is probably using the neural accelerator for prefill.
Re:Malicious Rust crate Arrayref runs a build-time payload on Thursday August 20, 2026 @08:45PM (#49382264)
You can't imagine how much your example calls home!

https://github.com/hbbio/rc

In my opinion, library authors should really minimize the amount of dependencies they have. Back to TypeScript, we are also the authors of https://github.com/okcontract/cells and we made a point of almost not having dependencies or even devDependencies.

Re:Malicious Rust crate Arrayref runs a build-time payload on Thursday August 20, 2026 @10:46AM (#49375370)
Rust suffers from the same faults as the JS ecosystem. Any significant crate imports hundreds if not thousands of dependencies. The probability that one of the authors gets targeted by AI-assisted attacks is just too high.

Also most of these dependencies provide a breadth of features that the end package does probably not need.

Was considering a Pixel 11 Pro, just cancelled it. Will wait for the Moto release. Thanks for your work!

Re:Pixel Watch 5 on Wednesday August 12, 2026 @11:26PM (#49281451)
This. I don't see the point of using a Pixel Watch or an Apple Watch or any watch that has 1 or 2 days of battery max.

My 3 year old Garmin has 2+ weeks battery life and is tracking activity, ox (ok, it's not medical grade), sleep, etc.

Also it does _not_ have a mic (something we're going to pay extra in a few years the way things go) and is not connected to anything wirelessly. No need for another device to set it up and you decide when you get data out using USB.

Show HN: NoDiff, a framework that lives in your monorepo

https://github.com/hbbio/nodiff

Played with this idea a few months ago, but forgot to share.Basically, it's a minimal web framework (I've been writing these for the last 15 years, notably with Opa) that AI agents should maintain together with an app in a monorepo. So you can always extend it your way. Curious to see what HN thinks of the concept.

Another beauty of free software is they took the project from gitea and gogs before that.
Re:Unsloth GLM-5.2 – How to Run Locally on Monday June 22, 2026 @08:49PM (#48638671)
Yes, a single GB300 workstation also does it, probably even more than 120tok/s.

Official price 85k...

Reminds of Chris Lemons, who survived for 30+ minutes without oxygen at the bottom of the North Sea. Cold water (and experience, like staying calm) probably played a large part. He went back to diving a few weeks after!

They made a movie about it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Last_Breath_(2019_film)

Re:Frontier AI has broken the open CTF format on Saturday May 16, 2026 @05:56AM (#48158648)
I also misread the updated title.

"Frontier models break the open CTF format" is good

"Frontier AI..." means wtf is Frontier AI.

Because of course it exists (just googled it): https://frontierai.company/

Re:Bun is being ported from Zig to Rust on Monday May 04, 2026 @10:06PM (#48017288)
Given they have "unlimited" AI usage, do we expect the port to be complete tomorrow?

Re:MacBook Neo and How the iPad Should Be on Thursday April 23, 2026 @07:18AM (#47874379)
The elephant in the room is something else.

iPhones need desktop mode. Your apps, your data. USB-C screen + Bluetooth keyboard/mouse. Running like iPadOS or even macOS.

Congrats on shipping!

Been also building this slowly, mostly assisting my kids.

What they built is Apple-only, since it's a native iOS/macOS app in Swift. It's been a very interesting experience for me, as even capable frontier LLMs still can't write Apple SwiftUI/AppKit properly. They constantly get the bridges wrong, and any feature prompt puts your previous architectural efforts at risk :)

Signal, the free encryption app used by journalists

In the most possible Apple fashion, I am waiting for MacOS 27 or 28 to have this builtin.
