Thanks! I've fixed the radio. MariaDB for Azuracast doesn't tear down gracefully and some log file is always left around that prevents a restart from happening. I'll figure it out eventually.

My dad always wanted me to create a VST but I'm not close enough to production to find it interesting, especially when there are already so many out there that are so versatile. This isn't my introduction, I've done a lot of exploratory work with hardware accelerated FFTs in the past for BPM algorithms and visualizers. I've also worked extensively with codecs and file formats. I wasn't happy with the performance of taglib and wrote my own to parse my ~600GB music library.

Thanks! I played a lot of FFXIV and idled a bit in between dungeons and often sat at the Aetherytes (teleport / fast travel locations). The ambiance was nice enough that I didn't feel the need to mute the game when tabbed out.

> What about the sound is so nice / interesting / soothing that drives you to these lengths? What about it do you like?

Most of the audio I keep playing (either music or ambiance) is usually unobtrusive. I appreciate less demanding audio because I can focus cognition towards the task at hand, usually work or games. This means I gravitate towards genres without vocals, like EDM, jungle, IDM, etc. I actually used to use a tool to loop music without gaps because the clip would annoy me[1].

For the aetheryte ambiance in particular, it was just low and novel enough to be relaxing, without constantly drawing my attention to it.

> I find your whole project really fascinating. I want to do something similar at some point, even though I don’t have the same kind of sound capturing my interest at the moment.

You could also try recreating my project on a new platform! I've actually recreated this tool as an iOS app because background play on iOS is toxic and changed between iOS versions. [2]

Even if you don't have an earworm it's fun to explore new APIs. I really liked CoreAudio and Web Audio.

seems like they have pretty clear goals in mind. if they were changing distributions haphazardly id otherwise agree, but to me it reads that they're refining their taste.

what is preventing you from using eglot on android?
Re:Package management on macOS with Nix-Darwin on Thursday April 25, 2024 @12:29PM (#40159582)
Without reading the article: I've used Nix on macOS without nix-darwin or home-manager for some time now. I define my packages in a flake.nix that exports an environment and I use install using `nix profile`.
Congratulations on the launch!
this 10,000,000,000%!! (dr stone ref.) I love modal editing and vim a ton, but I couldn't stand the half baked solutions terminal editors gave me. We have an entire rich graphical platform, why not use it?
i love the picture of your cat on the home page :)

I could be wrong, but can't Common Lisp do this?
You think you can “try” crack? sorry this comment has me in tears
I want threads to succeed so badly. It's the only app I've ever actually liked the UI of. I've tried numerous Mastodon apps (Ivory included), BlueSky, Twitter, and all of their web variants. I find myself returning to Threads even if the functionality is limited, because it's just that enjoyable. I'm rooting for 'em!
I chose Rust here because that was what the command line tool that I referenced were written in. I'm not going to argue on HN about memory management (because I too, prefer Zig over Rust) because it's all about the program you're trying to write.

In terms of generating the object file with a single toolset, It's just not something I care about. This was like, a two day project. I don't need to make it more complicated than it needs to be

I haven't used 'Next Content', but one big difference is that Astro is framework agnostic. I'm not a huge web dev so I wouldn't know how different these frameworks are, but not being locked in/being able to try another framework is cool

I think for the first point you wanted a block that evaluated to the map, unsure if that’s what you wanted though

Would you mind elaborating on the complications you ran into? I ask because I think you used std.HashMap instead of std.AutoHashMap, the latter of which automatically chooses a hash function based on the types provided.
