“Emergence” from LLMs is very similar to emergence from scaling transistors.

When you have only hundreds of them, you can barely add numbers. But the same fundamental technology scaled to millions, billions and then trillions, transistors can do things which will look magic to previous generations.

Building a suite of libraries for basic stuff like webserver, sql integration, writing react components etc in Lean here https://github.com/orgs/theoriclabs/repositories?q=sort%3Ast...

> Can lean generate small static binaries the same way Go/Rust/C/C++ can?

Lean compiles to C and the binaries aren't huge, though haven't benchmarked this part yet.

> How practical is rewriting, say, grep in Lean?

Very, you should probably try it.

Thanks, looks interesting.

Bummed, but I guess for me, doesn't mean cursor subscription ending though. Grok is a pretty amazing model for the speed and price on Cursor.

https://3quarksdaily.com/3quarksdaily/2014/03/boundaries-and... This is a beautiful article on the subject.

To prove that there are unnamable concepts, he uses cantor's diagonal argument. There are countably infinite names. Any subset of these names is a concept, which is same as the powerset of the set of names, and through cantor's diagonal argument, there are uncountably infinite concepts, most which are not namable.

Yes you can take a specific concept, and name it, but there are uncountably infinitely many, so even with infinite time, you cannot name them all.

I belive we can do regular software much better using formal methods, and I want to better communicate the developing tools, learnings and methodology.

Would appreciate a quick reaction from the community.

Show HN: Compute.cx is simple (modal.com like) interface for on-demand GPUs

https://compute.cx

Hi everyone, Please checkout compute.cx which is a simple cli interface for using on demand GPUs from RunPod and HotAisle. I created this because I really like the ease of modal.com for severless gpu access, but don’t always want to pay their markup. Compute.cx gives the same DX but on public on-demand GPUs like runpod and hotaisie. Please try it out, and write to me [email protected] for any...

Mass Resignation from xAI

Seems like xAI is having a Fairchild semiconductor moment, saw at least half a dozen people posting they are leaving xAI, and seems like all of them are starting something new, together.- https://x.com/Chace_AGI/status/2021452881875141060 - https://x.com/jimmybajimmyba/status/2021374875793801447 - https://x.com/Yuhu_ai_/status/2021113745024614671 -...

JS packaging ecosystem is fairly mature compared to python. The install and deps issues way fewer.

Re:Organised gangs behind rise in QR 'quishing' scams on Monday April 14, 2025 @03:34AM (#43678948)
Was wondering why such scams are not a thing in India (yet?), and realized there is always a person next to the QR to verify the payment. So such QR quishing scams are much harder to pull off.

[Not saying there are no scams in India. Just that QRs for payments are very popular here as well, and scammers are smart and active, so was wondering why not]

Re:Gemma 3 Technical Report [pdf] on Wednesday March 12, 2025 @03:06AM (#43340590)
Gemma is their open-source series of models. Gemini is the propertierary ones. Gemini models are bigger and better. But Gemma are pretty good too.
