I wonder if the solution is simply to focus and effectively use resources so you can be effective and ambitious in a reasonable number of hours. Which is fine for 99.99%. Only if you are at the helm of discovering a revolution in physics or changing the world in some other way then go all in when you have kids. Which today is rare since team work makes the dream work way more. Of course there is greed. If you are greedy that is a different thing.

Re:Cursor launches Origin, GitHub alternative on Tuesday August 18, 2026 @05:12PM (#49352778)
Seems like a boring bet. The Github way of working is from the anthropocene era. We need new primitives for agents invokved in tech solutions. Pull requests? Issues? CI? They all seem like they'll go away. Cursor should be leading the new things that replace them.
Re:How does IKEA come up with names for its products? on Tuesday August 18, 2026 @05:03PM (#49352680)
Every startup is named like these though so it is sorta biased.

Re:The Amazon Tax on Tuesday August 18, 2026 @04:50PM (#49352509)
Or just increase minimum wage. 3x maybe?

Same thing, and simpler to do than making new law. I always prefer keeping tax simple!

Re:The Amazon Tax on Tuesday August 18, 2026 @04:47PM (#49352477)
This is simply, a monopoly. Whatever mechanism they came up with to squeeze the final dollars out of the system, such a system would exist because they can.
Re:Beware Management Consultants on Tuesday August 18, 2026 @04:44PM (#49352435)
Maybe GMPK should do a protection racket of sorts. Pay us 1% of revenue and we wont send the consultants j/k

Don't hallucinate, mask logits if possible?
"Takes down" would be better than "kills". Kills sort of may imply they created it in the first place.
That sounds ... magic. Will give it a go.
Re:Stop sending me huge PRs; a rant on Friday August 14, 2026 @08:21PM (#49306228)
Yes could be a pipe failure. Commonly used for coverage or security concerns, it could be also used for PR size.
Im not deep into the space but surely zero LLM cost would be default for search???
Re:Choose Boring Technology (2015) on Friday August 14, 2026 @10:50AM (#49299472)
I mean popular as in by actual usage rather than emotion/hype. It is usually boring that is popular from what I see.

Agree about LLM not choosing tech. Although that could mean dictating upfront or let it choose then review/steer.

Free as in kids eat free
Can i use it now to job hunt?
Re:DeepSeek Harness on Friday August 14, 2026 @02:28AM (#49295340)
Problem is I use pi.dev and I don't want to learn a new thing the new things keeping coming. Too much new and unprecidented rate.
Re:NP-Overrated on Friday August 14, 2026 @12:33AM (#49294777)
Why is it a limitation to know about SIMD, AVX, L1 cache etc.? Or am I missing your point?
Re:Donkey.bas is 45 Years Old – 131 line of Glory on Thursday August 13, 2026 @06:10PM (#49292474)
Donkey is also a collective noun for the donkeys and so the army that is the donkey wins.
Re:Choose Boring Technology (2015) on Thursday August 13, 2026 @06:05PM (#49292433)
I find agents default to popular which heavily overlaps with boring although you could steer them more boring for sure.
Re:Understanding is the new bottleneck on Thursday August 13, 2026 @06:04PM (#49292418)
Thanks for the post Geoffrey. I have been thinking about this a bit and wanted to come to these sorts of conclusions, you have saved me a lot of work (lol I have no ego that I have to figure it out I am happy you did).

Cog debt even on simple PRs is big and also cog debt when using AI to do organizational research e.g. what team do I ask?
