Re:Ask HN: How do you track issues, todos, features? on Friday November 20, 2015 @06:16PM (#10604523)
Can I ask what you dislike about Asana?

I haven't used it. What's the biggest feature of Asana, and how is it flawed?

Is there a way to contact you?
Thank you for this. I hadn't realized there is a difference between downvoting and flagging comments until I read your post. I hope other HN users know of this difference.
Re:Facebook won't let you type this on Sunday November 08, 2015 @04:43PM (#10530098)
A business model like Tsu's can kill Facebook.

Facebook keeps 100% of ad revenue; Tsu keeps 10% and pays 45% to it's users.

Re:Show HN: ListMakr – Make and share fancy lists on Wednesday November 04, 2015 @10:51PM (#10511530)
I liked the idea. There's also an enthusiasm coming out of it.

I got confused after trying it, because I kept thinking on the first screen that I was using it, while in fact I wasn't: I was supposed to be clicking on Next. I'm not sure what would be best, but I think I want to not go through the four screens that show me how to use it.

I wish the "Save" button was closer to "Add Item" so I don't have to move the mouse.

Re:Show HN: Poetry Every Day – Poetry as a Service on Wednesday November 04, 2015 @10:45PM (#10511506)
I liked how focused and simple this is.

It may look better if some sentences didn't break to a second line.

I wish I could pay per month. For me it's the principle, I want to try before I commit.

> "Poetry Every Day has the ability to keep track of which poem emails are opened."

Since you can't control how I read email, how does this work? Do I visit a web page to read the poem, or do I read it from my inbox?

Have you talked to people in person?

Why did you build this?

Re:Ask HN: Should I take a job at a bank? on Wednesday November 04, 2015 @09:33PM (#10511263)
> I just do not think anyone will pay as well as this bank

What makes you believe the best reward for you right now is to be paid as well as this bank, instead of improving your learning rate?

Re:Ask HN: Should I take a job at a bank? on Wednesday November 04, 2015 @09:30PM (#10511255)
Don't take it. Go work for a startup, and optimize for quick feedback and learning instead.

Next summer is 7 months away. Why are you trying to secure a job so early in a field that moves as fast as tech? Uncertainty is a key part of any creation, and of life. The sooner you learn to live with uncertainty, the better off you will be in the long run, because you will attempt more frightening things.

The other reason you shouldn't take it is you can't jump in the same river twice. You already worked at this bank and you said you don't want to work for it again.

Learn to trust your gut.

The road out of poverty passes through education. Internet is access to education.
Re:A platform for AMAs on Sunday October 18, 2015 @04:27PM (#10409661)
I liked the idea a lot. I wish I could use it without a login.

If paying attention to people is more important to paying attention to ideas, it's strange that HN has a Show HN section but no AMA section.

Why should only sama get an ama?

Re:Can I avoid to incorporate in US if I get accepted in YC? on Sunday October 18, 2015 @04:23PM (#10409646)
> it doesn't really make sense to incorporate in US if then I will run the company from abroad its entire lifetime.

What made you think that?

> Is it possible to avoid incorporating in US if accepted in YC?

No, it's not possible. From http://www.ycombinator.com/apply/

"International founders, please note: if your company is a non-United States entity (corporation, limited liability company, etc.), your participation in YC is conditional on conversion of your foreign company into a United States corporation."

Re:The Hostile Email Landscape on Saturday October 17, 2015 @06:18PM (#10406377)
It's a lost cause.

The blacklisting ugliness is one more sign email was badly designed. One more nail in the coffin.

Re:Show HN: Gaggle Mail – Simple group email on Thursday October 15, 2015 @08:35PM (#10396861)
Is there a limit on disk space?

Can I ask how much disk is used (or how you much disk you project will be used) on average per email group?

I loved the simplicity of the UI and the short explanations.

A flat address space is the future. You don't need virtual memory when a flat address space can hold all memory addresses for all processes as it does now with 64-bit processors.
Re:Ask HN: What narrow field should I master? on Sunday October 11, 2015 @09:20PM (#10371996)
Master what it takes to be a consultant. That's what you seem to want to do, and it's a better path than being an employee.

Attempting to get your first consulting gig will force you to master whatever you are missing specifically, instead of what you are looking for quasi-randomly.

Re:I am Sam Altman, President of Y Combinator – AMA on Friday October 09, 2015 @06:46PM (#10363696)

Some of the most successful companies, like Google, Facebook, Twitter, and Reddit, didn't charge on day 1.

Ask HN: Do you want to be employed only 3 days a week while starting a startup?

Hello HN. The fastest way to fund a startup may always be to fund it yourself. To be employed during the day, and work on the startup on nights and weekends. One of the early bottlenecks with this is lack of time. You don't have as much time as you'd need to work on the startup. Which means if there was a way to quickly exchange money for time that would be something founders want.Does anyone on...

What is the one thing that could reverse an entrenched system, and how could you build a prototype in the least amount of time. Preferably, something people think is too much work, while it actually takes two days.

Well, your friends could vet for you too.
