Music is way more competitive than CS. You have to be a truly elite musician to make a good living in music, but you can be an average programmer and still make a good living in CS.
Re:Tech giants sued over deaths of children who mine cobalt on Wednesday December 18, 2019 @08:54AM (#21824782)
I highly doubt these companies are directly hiring or managing Cobalt miners. You might as well also sue anybody who uses a computer. This is purely a publicity stunt; it will get thrown out immediately.
Re:France and Germany Agree to Block Facebook's Libra on Saturday September 14, 2019 @04:38PM (#20973615)
Other than the fact that they have some sort of block chain backend, how is Libra even different from Venmo?

Seems like they're just banning it because they don't understand it.

Conjecture about identity of complete stranger: check.

Ad hominem attack based on conjecture: check.

Non-sequitur: check.

This comment shows all the symptoms. I regret to inform you that it is officially retarded.

You can't subsidize a tax break. That doesn't make any sense because you don't need to spend money to give people a tax break.

As a googler, I say good. People like her have made going to work exhausting. Leave your politics at home and let me do my job in peace.
Is not email and SMS already a decentralized form of social media?

I doubt the existence of decentralized social media would mean the end of centralized social media. How do you build a video sharing platform that's anywhere near as full-featured as Youtube without centralization?

He bought the land for more than fair value. He didn't seize anything.
HN's hatred towards AMP is something I've never understood. As a user, I'd much rather visit an AMP website than have to deal with the atrocities devs create when left to their own devices.

In general, HN has a pretty strong bias against Google and Facebook. I suspect it may be clouding the average user's judgement. AMP has done immense good for the majority of users of the mobile web.

What are the odds this will teach the American left that censorship is not a good thing and lead them to stop demanding Google, Twitter, and Facebook ban every user who wants to reduce immigration? 1%? 0%?
