gslepak

Is there a way to use it with git without having to change your global git config? I.e. `git diff | omnidiff` or something?

You can do this with delta: `git diff | delta --side-by-side`

No.

Re:Why aren't AI companies being charged for hacking? on Monday October 12, 2026 @11:40AM (#50058021)
Lies. Not going to engage with any more disinfo people though. Anyone is free to do the research themselves.
Re:Why aren't AI companies being charged for hacking? on Monday October 12, 2026 @11:16AM (#50057672)
Same reason nobody was prosecuted for the murder of Suchir Balaji. Whole system is corrupt. Progress in AI is considered more important than both the law and human life.
Re:MicroLLM Lab – Try 7 tiny LLM's in the browser on Tuesday September 29, 2026 @12:08AM (#49888119)
Interesting. Crashed macOS. That's already impressive.
It means "for my requirements they're good enough."

They haven't solved coding.

Programming is an art form. And the better you get at it, the better kinds of ideas (abstractions) you can create.

This is something today's AI cannot do.

If everyone were to permanently switch to AI for software development, software innovation would cease.

You are aware that Claude is designed to deliberately sabotage AI projects, right?

On what basis are you claiming this?

Does anyone have any experience with Grok's subscription? How does it compare price-wise to the API?
Re:What Zig felt like, coming from Rust on Saturday September 19, 2026 @01:37PM (#49768552)
I'm honestly baffled why people are writing Zig or Rust and avoiding V. V (and now Bend) seems like the future to me.
Amazing work, one question regarding the guide, it states:

> That same file is the CPU program and the GPU kernel: clang builds it for the host, Metal or CUDA builds it for the device, so a `!` runs the exact same code on either chip.

What exactly is this saying? The guide doesn't really explicitly define `!`, and it's unclear from this sentence whether it's saying that, "clang builds it for the host and Metal, and CUDA builds it for the device", or if it's saying, "clang builds it for the host, Metal, and CUDA, and builds it for the device", or something else entirely.

I recommend reading the link.

So glad to see this! This is exactly what we need! Love this!

I wrote this article a while back on how to build a great terminal editor that's better than Emacs and VIM [1], you might find it interesting!

I always wondered how Idiocracy got to the point where they have sophisticated technology and yet everyone is stupid. I think we have our answer.

How does lumen compare to semble?

https://github.com/MinishLab/semble

It turns out there already is a legal precedent for this. It's called the 4th Amendment:

> The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Do people not know how to write blogs without AI anymore? I enjoy hearing a human's unique voice and miss hearing it when it's abscent.
Re:Codeberg Bans Cryptocurrency Projects on Wednesday July 22, 2026 @11:29PM (#49016563)
Why yes, in fact I am. One of the major reasons [1] I switched to GrapheneOS.

[1] https://blog.okturtles.org/2024/06/the-ultimate-ios-to-graph...

Yeah this is a battle and it's why governments decide to spend resources on this. Protectionism won't help America, American needs to compete. There's a general consensus that open source AI must win because people don't want to end up as slaves to a megacorp, so if you're anti-open source AI you're not gonna fare well.
Re:The Short Leash AI Coding Method for Beating Fable on Friday July 03, 2026 @12:37PM (#48776967)
I like people who push back in this way :D

Certainly, if you want to be even more involved in writing the code, more power to ya!

Re:Why I Stopped Arguing with People on Wednesday July 01, 2026 @10:58AM (#48747941)
FWIW I appreciate people like the author's old self. I am one of those who hates and simultaneously appreciates being corrected when I'm mistaken. I hate being mistaken and I appreciate the opportunity to correct the mistake.

While much of what the author says is true, I'm not so cynical as to think that it's impossible to change others.

The fact that you can change yourself — as the author acknowledges — means you can change others, because much of self-change comes from your observation of others. Perhaps it's the approach that matters most.

Re:A native graphical shell for SSH on Monday June 29, 2026 @10:46PM (#48727990)
This is really cool. I love it.

What'd be really funny would be for someone to use this to implement an app that's a terminal. XD

Indeed, it performed worse than Qwen3.6-27b in my basic test.

It gave a fancier looking answer, but did a worse job following the prompt.

Very cool! There seems to be a bug here: https://hackernewstrends.com/?q=vim&q=emacs&q=zed

For some reason the results cut off at 2018-10 even though "Popular Comparisons" preview shows more.

Note that these is Python-only results, the model will not do as well with other languages.

I'm glad to see more domain-focused SLMs, we need more of them! A programming focused MoE should work well across many languages.

Re:Volkswagen started blocking GrapheneOS users on Wednesday June 17, 2026 @01:05PM (#48573285)
I'm kinda glad that it's VW blocking GrapheneOS users in a cynical way. When my parents got a VW Jetta they never stopped complaining about it and never bought one again. So it tracks that they'd also be the car manufacturer to block GrapheneOS and stomp on their user's privacy.

It's an easy market to win at this point. The bar has been lowered so much. Already have a nice car? Just don't display utter disdain for your user's privacy and you get our $$.
