A donation site that takes only bitcoin as payment is very suspicious, surely there are alot of services like GoFundMe who would accept him if it was genuine. I think this is a fake scam

edit: can you write in brackets after the URL that it may be scam. I think alot of people may just go to the URL without reading your warning

Re:Life Lessons from the First Half-Century of My Career on Saturday January 25, 2025 @06:07AM (#42820932)
this is just boomer talk, I am sorry but todays world is different to the one he grew up in. We face challenges that makes prioritizing 100% on family extremely hard.
I dont have any good advice, but wanted to say hang in there buddy. Its gonna get better. You wrote that you're usually the one supporting your friends. Maybe its time you asked for help from them. It may not be easy but you will be surprised how caring friends can be.
such individual court decisions are usually a precursor to what will be implemented EU-wide

Apple is dragging their feet on 15% AppStore fee reduction?

Hi,I am a dev and falls way under their 1M$ revenue limit, so it means I should be eligable for 15% drop in fees. I have applied for this in december. I just checked last week and I am still paying 30%. I have applied again but every month that passes I lose out on 15% extra income.Has anyone else got the reduced fees?

Re:A German man is keeping $60M in Bitcoin from police on Saturday February 06, 2021 @11:59AM (#26047791)
this is actually good for bitcoin. just proves that no powerful government can touch money stored in bitcoin. Finally an alternative to digging gold bars in the woods :)

when such unjust is done to the mass, this may just spill over to violence. If I were RH/Melvin/Citadel, I'd watch over my shoulders.

SEC needs to intervene quick

this is wrong. I dislike Trump and his 4 years but this is wrong.
Re:Reddit bans subreddit group “r/DonaldTrump” on Friday January 08, 2021 @02:08PM (#25688701)
the people on these communities creates their alternative reality. selectively avoid news/information that can burst their bubble. its the same with /r/politics. both living in massive bubbles with complete opposite realities.

the difference is that r/the_donald is more violent. They cordinate gatherings, "attacks", a violent protests.

r/politics which is liberal bubble is more peaceful but both these communites censor opposing views and is dangerous to democracy

I wonder if this weakens their "security" argument in the appstore walled garden case.

"yes you can sell here, we only need to know the ingredients and know-how of this vaccine to approve its safety"
Im totally against Social medias. And believe they have caused mental health damage to large section of the population. but lets talk about general censorship vs freedom without Social medias in the equation.
Where does the line between blocking illegal content vs censorship go?

In the western world we would probably allow ISPs to block sites that promote traditions that we do not see as normal. For example; in some east asian countries they eat dogs during festival. Websites selling dog meat shipping to western countries would be blocked in my country.

Why can't India censor websites than promote values they dont agree with? Or Russia?

Every country and people are unique and they have different values. We shouldnt try to assimilate those.

Re:macOS unable to open any non-Apple application on Friday November 13, 2020 @03:16AM (#25080199)
I am tired of this 2trillion company becoming too strong. Screw them. I aint gonna develop for them anymore. Parasites. Got this mail from Apple:

Dear Developer,

Compatible iOS and iPadOS apps will automatically appear on the Mac App Store when the first Apple silicon Macs become available this year. However, we noticed the following issues with one or more of your apps that are opted in to appear.

The following apps will not be made available on the Mac App Store until you address the issues and select Make this app available on Mac in the app's Pricing and Availability section of App Store Connect.

Why am I getting abused?? Im even a «liberal» voter, but i stand up against misinformation against my worst enemy
Re:The next fleet of Breitbarts is already raking in ad dollars on Wednesday November 11, 2020 @06:42PM (#25064370)
This article spreads misinformation about Bannon. He said «heads should be on spike» which means people should be sacked. This article excaggerates it as «beheading». What a nasty trick to fool the readers
wow reading these comments I for a moment thought I was on TheDonald or Breitbart comment section.
Re:How journalists use youtube-dl on Monday October 26, 2020 @05:29PM (#24901681)
Microsoft has to reverse this takedown. Even though it is called "youtube-dl", it also is for downloading videoes on hundres of other video platforms! Many, as stated in this article, use it for research purposes and investigative journalism.

Why do companies like MS, Google, Amazon etc acquire smaller companies if they cant protect the values these small companies stand for and made them attractive in first place.

I think even if 99% of google users have strict privacy, this tool is still worth it for data brokers as they can run email lists of millions of users.

And every data about a user that can be connected to the rest of the master data is gold as its all about the network effect.

here is a good example. The white box is from a publically available dataleak of a site called SexDating.se. its 10 years old db. but still i managed to extract the name of the person even though the original DB had no identifiers apart from this gmail.

wait untill more people use Apple Pay, they will be taking their infamous 30% fees. Either from you or the merchant.

sidenote: Apple Pay is being blocked by major Norwegian banks because Apple refuses to let banks create competitor payment app with NFC.

Re:The future of .NET Standard on Monday September 21, 2020 @12:13PM (#24545089)
this is so confusing. .net core

.net (before core)

.netstandard 2.1

.net 5

what a joke. This coming from someone who used to work as dev in .NET

there is no equivalent alternative. Android is laggy, low-quality, malware-infested junk. Windows Phone was beginning to look good. It has great design, quick OS and apps. I wish Microsoft continued at low cost operative mode and just waited for the right opportunities like this.
Trump is a "protected" account in twitters internal system. Even Twitter employees cant access such protected accounts.
