Show HN: TimerVana a Local-first scheduler for real world routines

https://timervana.net/browse

Hi HN, I’m the creator of TimerVana. It's not just "another timer app". The engineering analogy is a lightweight task scheduler for things people do in the real world. A normal timer models one countdown. TimerVana models a small dependency graph in JSON: some steps run sequentially, others run in parallel, and everything can converge on a target finish time. You can also combine multiple...

Congrats on shipping! Looks quite polished. May be helpful to show how it differ from JustWatch or other streaming service aggregators.

Show HN: Practice Conversations with AI Personas

https://www.practicetalking.net

Hello HN,Excited to share my new project, a site for rehearsing conversations with any emulated person, powered by ChatGPT. Originally inspired by my daughter's idea, we built a tool that simulates scenarios from chats with a crush to job interviews, aiming to boost confidence and reduce anxiety. You can create any persona you want to interact with, whether a celebrity or someone you know...

Fun game. Works well on iPhone 13, but doesn’t work on iPhone SE (screen doesn’t fit and there is no way to scroll). Another thought, would be great to see how score compares to others or the average, best score, fastest, etc).

This looks great, congrats! I’ve tried a number of photogrammetry software and they typically had challenges. One question: are you able to determine the size of the object?

Goal seek does this. It is a built in capability.

A large part of this appears to be non cash expense associated with stock compensation that was recognized due to an investment round where they let employees and investors sell shares at above “market value”. Can helpful to look at cash flow.
Re:Uber Sinks to New Record Low as IPO Share Lockup Expires on Wednesday November 06, 2019 @12:00PM (#21464443)
Some unsolicited advice for any Uber employees here on HN: You may want to seriously consider selling all vested shares. The price not be what you are expecting, but, from my own personal experience, and "most expert advice", it can be better to sell and diversify. Many one-time high-fliers, such as Zynga (where I previously worked), never got back to their IPO or lockup expiry price.

Re:Show HN: Should you buy a house and rent it out? on Saturday April 20, 2019 @01:48PM (#19707820)
Great visualizations and simple clean presentation. I tried to use a number of these simple tools to evaluate investment properties but they were usually too high level. I ended up building my own very detailed spreadsheet where the inputs can be tailored very specifically. I know it's not "software" in the HN since, but I made the Google Sheet available online [0] here if any one wants to use it. Note that this is a shared demo so your data will be overwritten by other users.

Re:Picture of a Single Atom Wins Science Photo Contest on Monday February 12, 2018 @07:41PM (#16363801)
View it here in actual life size on your display. http://beta.lifesizer.com/view?user=5&ref=_59&h=1080&w=1920

Edit: based on seeing it in actual size, I would say it would be hard to see it with the naked eye, that said as pointed out in other comments, I suppose not impossible if a human eye can detect a single photon.

Anyone seen performance metrics Vs depth capabilities of iPhone 8 or X?

I was surprised that the robot doesn't have a touch/impact sensor as a fall back.
