Re:Ubuntu 26.10 completes transition to Rust-based coreutils on Tuesday September 15, 2026 @06:30AM (#49710322)
We already had a problem with sudo-rs not handling all the options that previous sudo did. I am quite surprised sudo-rs is now the default even.
Yup, npm install takes forever

Missed chance to end the article mid sentence
Re:PHP 8.5 gets released today, here's what's new on Thursday November 20, 2025 @04:34AM (#45990804)
IMO, newer PHP is still very readable. I programmed with C++ for a decade, but I can safely say that I cannot understand a modern C++ code base anymore.
> Using web versions

ahem, heard of cloudflare? web hosters and developers are voluntarily centralizing themselves.

quay.io is down
Re:AWS Multiple Services Down in us-east-1 on Monday October 20, 2025 @04:51AM (#45641471)

Re:MinIO Guts Management Dashboard on Monday May 26, 2025 @08:25AM (#44096783)
Where did you read this?
Man hats off to you. Great work
Oh the memories. How does this work? Is it built using an emulator of old VB6 code ? (didn't realize it was opensource) . Or is everything built from scratch?
Re:Why Does Everyone Run Ancient Postgres Versions? on Friday October 18, 2024 @08:24AM (#41878750)
How does one backup a sqlite without stopping the app or disrupting service? I couldn't find a simple answer to this
The link to license is broken. It links to LICENSE.md instead of LICENSE
Re:Show HN: If YouTube had actual channels on Wednesday August 14, 2024 @12:28PM (#41247918)
Incredibly well done! Great execution

I have no idea what this analogy means but it made me laugh :-)
Re:Show HN: Huewords, a Word and Logic Puzzle on Friday June 07, 2024 @06:37AM (#40607246)
yeah, that's fair. Maybe just remove the share link for daily puzzles? Great puzzle btw.
Re:Show HN: Huewords, a Word and Logic Puzzle on Wednesday June 05, 2024 @03:37AM (#40582355)

Re: on Wednesday May 29, 2024 @05:25AM (#40510064)
This is not the title of the video
heh, I am awed by the foresight of the author !
Looks like this was just some random failure! All looks good now. I was looking at HN for cloudflare errors and your was the first :)

Well, it turns out https://developers.cloudflare.com/api/operations/dns-records... now returns "null" in result . I think it returned empty array before.

Cloudflare DNS seems to be down at the moment :-) The API calls return "null" as the result like `'{"result":null,"success":true,"errors":[],"messages":[],"result_info":{"page":1,"per_page":100,"count":0,"total_count":0,"total_pages":1}}'`
Re:Redis License Changed on Thursday March 21, 2024 @06:14PM (#39785068)
Not sure what exactly the point is. The OP is saying almost 0 users are affected and this is not true. I was only saying that the license change affects quite some people. Whether rightly or wrongly is not mine to debate (I have nothing to do with redis!).
Re:Redis License Changed on Thursday March 21, 2024 @06:13PM (#39785059)
But that is not what I am asking though. The OP is saying almost 0 users are affected and this is not true.
Re:Redis License Changed on Thursday March 21, 2024 @05:16AM (#39776334)
Why do you think almost zero users are affected by this change? If a business was built on hosting redis or providing managed redis, that company is now inviable, no?

note: I am not disagreeing with the license change, just asking why you think nobody is affected.

Re:I turned my open-source project into a full-time business on Tuesday February 27, 2024 @07:40AM (#39523327)
We still use andris9's mailtrain even though the project has long died. Thanks andris9 for so many of email related node.js projects! Invaluable.
I don't think the title is correct. IMAP/SMTP will still be supported with App Passwords. That's my reading of it.
Re:15 years ago, I helped design Google Maps on Thursday November 23, 2023 @06:45PM (#38399092)
Stupid question: but how do you search for something along a specific route? The search nearby thing never quite works for me, it keeps zooming out / clearing, I never got the hang of it.
