If the JIT engine in Nitro had a JIT Spray vulnerability and Nitro was a shared library could it allow an attacker to inject code into other applications that also use Nitro?

Not that shared libraries are a problem, just that JIT'ing introduces a new attack vector that is hard to secure.

We're hiring Software & Systems engineers in Boston & Seattle to help build and scale our video publishing platform. We use Java, Clojure, Node, Rails & Groovy to build the service that streams over 750 million videos a month (second most after youtube).

We have frequent social gatherings (from board games to a company wide talent show) and offer excellent benefits (health, vision, dental, life, 401k, unmetered vacation).

i've been here for 4 years and love it! There's a really great culture of nice people who are wicked smart. Send me an email if you have any questions!

We're also hiring Account Directors in DC, Atlanta & London, Technical Support Engineers in Boston & London, a Sales Director & Engineer (Atlanta & London, respectively), and a Product Designer in Seattle.

if you want to change configuration data remotely without a restart, and don't want to use jmx. you'd still need to persist the change or else it wouldn't when the service restarts.

Going to sleep when you're tired and waking up at the same time everyday sounds great but how does the occasional late night affect this?

The Times has a great recipe as well: http://www.nytimes.com/2006/11/08/dining/081mrex.html

It's super easy (don't even bother with the cheese cloth stuff, just dump it into a pot and bake it) and hard to mess up. And most importantly, delicious!

Brightcove - Cambridge, MA & Seattle, WA http://brightcove.com/careers

We're hiring Software Engineers, a Product Designer and a VP of Operations.

We use Java, Python, Rails & MongoDB to build and scale the second largest source of video traffic on the internet (after Youtube). Even though we're growing fast it still feels like a smaller company. Individual engineers are able to make an impact, and do. We hire people who are smart and nice and it shows!

We're also looking for interns.

Re:LinkedIn open sources IndexTank: search engine and service on Wednesday December 21, 2011 @11:14PM (#3380347)
I'd imagine they mean indexing (and being able to search on) data in real time. Given LinkedIn's previous open source projects around real time search (http://javasoze.github.com/zoie/).

Lucene (which Solr uses as its index) cannot expose newly indexed data immediately after it's added.

Lucene exposes IndexReaders for searches, which offer a snapshot view of the index. In order to search across new documents IndexReaders need to be re-opened, a somewhat expensive operation. Expensive enough to prevent it from happening after each document is added, especially if they're added frequently.

The latest version of Lucene supports "near real time" search, but afaik it's not widely used (with Solr).

You can get a lot of similar information (frequent topics & corespondents) with ThinkUp, but you control your data.
