Why not use a keyboard?
Re:Jailbreaking the Switch 2 on Thursday October 22, 2026 @11:20AM (#50196638)
I had a hacked switch 1 for many years and was never banned. I always played in airplane mode, and got a 2nd to play online with. After I reset the switch to gift to a friend, it was not banned. If you’re careful it will be fine, but I’m sure they’ve cranked up security on switch 2.

Agreed it’s dumb to be off by default, but I get it. You can change it: To show the file path in macOS, you can enable the Path Bar in Finder by clicking on View > Show Path Bar. This will display the full hierarchy of the selected file or folder at the bottom of the Finder window.

“along with a slightly improved CPU”

It’s 100% more RAM, and a 50% jump in cpu capability. That’s a slight improvement to you?

Re:Apple HomeView on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @06:59AM (#50085661)
You seriously don’t see a privacy difference in Apple’s vs Flock’s approaches??
Re:Apple HomeView on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @06:52AM (#50085558)
Right, that’s why everyone I know uses Linux too, and big tech routinely make copies of Linux features…
Re:Apple HomeView on Wednesday October 14, 2026 @06:41AM (#50085457)
Open the Siri app, problem solved.
I truly don’t understand how you could think that. It’s literally water, from the earth, to which it returns for recycling. Great that data centers “recycle” water, but earth is significantly better at that than google. Fun fact, water that evaporates becomes clouds and rain! Seems pretty infinitely efficient to me, unless you look at a tiny section of what is not a closed system.
Lmfao you tell someone to read and then post your own opinionated blog post? I would reiterate that you need to read, perhaps outside your own bubble.
In this context, normal people will believe the marketing and trust meta, and caveat emptor is a cop-out at best. I can sell you a basket of bread, and it’s privacy-preserving bread, but it will also punch you in the face if you don’t read every bit of the agreement. No one reads the agreement, and that’s what Meta runs on, plus skirting the law in every way they can possibly get away with.
“Mindlessly” gave full disk access. This is why Apple is restricting FDA further- people are stupid. TCC exists, great, but you’re spending so many comments harping on TCC that you e lost the plot here.
Seriously, stop trying to grandstand this thread and being Meta’s lap cat. It’s gross.

How on earth, after literally decades of abusive behavior by meta, are you standing the straw man that maybe and based on your assumption the user is lying??

Right, because there simply cannot be well-informed people who care about the environment? You’re insulting loooots of legitimately concerned people and being very dismissive. Fuck data centers and their pollution and waste. See: any number of lawsuits against such specific thing. Caring about air quality does not make one a cosplayer. Grow up.
Yeah you’re right, feeding people is just a huge waste.
I said that because your position is absurd, and clearly false. Flock is an AI company, period. They use a multitude of different ai types in their “AI OS”.

And the issue is absolutely not just cops taking what they say as gospel; that’s a teeny tiny itty bitty fraction of the issue, which is in itself reductive. This is a massively multifaceted issue and to state otherwise means you don’t understand the scope.

Perhaps you should actually read TFA. Here’s another one. https://cybernews.com/privacy/flock-ai-os-investigate/

Ahem, reality would like a word about flock not being AI.

Re:Muse: Meta's personal AI agent, features and capabilities on Wednesday September 09, 2026 @08:06AM (#49625169)
What is with all the usage of “normies” in this thread???

Are we collectively deciding we are better than others simply because we pay attention to different things?

Seems really “my farts smell better than yours” childish to me.

Nothing about my previous statement was accidental, and it’s proven nothing to your point as far as I can tell. What exactly are you being specific about here? You started with a baseless claim that anyone who believes we live in a surveillance state is misguided, while I stated that the discussion was surrounding facts. Meanwhile, there are numerous citations throughout the thread, go read them; I’m not going to reproduce them here.
I’m unaware of any projects trying to make a dumb tv, but I like the idea. You can start with rootmy.tv and research from there.
| but this conspiracy theory that everything is made to spy on you is not helping...

Have you actually looked at what is being discussed? There is no conspiracy theory, these are simple facts. Just about every electronic device is made to spy on you in 2026. Thinking otherwise is naive, at best.

No idea what NAS you’re using, but I would recommend the Apple TV box.
Re:Local AI Is Dead. You Are at the Funeral on Monday August 31, 2026 @07:50AM (#49508533)
There are literally millions and millions of Mac’s and iPhones and iPads that are local ai first. Not exactly a raspberry pi, but I get what you mean.
Re:Local AI Is Dead. You Are at the Funeral on Monday August 31, 2026 @07:22AM (#49508353)
I disagree with this hot take. While perhaps correct for certain aspects, but I don’t see local ai going anywhere.

This post mentions nothing about the finite cash streams, circular profit structures, or the environmental/social/political impacts of the ever-expanding data centers where these VMs and AIs will supposedly live forever.

Will the cutting edge typically be with the cloud providers? Sure, it’s their existential requirement.

But, will and do local models fill a niche that will never go away in my view? Also yes.

Local AI isn’t going anywhere- it’s just getting started. Ten years from now either we will have dumb terminal glasses that can’t do anything without an internet connection, or local-first AI will be supplemented by cloud providers for the larger needs. I vote the latter, and it would appear some such as Apple do as well.

Not nearly every use case for AI is a coding environment. This person seems to forget there aren’t 8.3+ billion developers on Earth. And not nearly every use for AI requires a cutting-edge model.

|It's possible that they're working on their own LLM

Yep, Siri AI; they’re doing it in public.

Uhhh, they are? They’re a hardware co for sure, but to say they aren’t focusing on on-device models is absurd on its face. They’ve spent over 2 years on Siri AI which is (mostly) local.
This might help; haven’t tried it myself. https://github.com/dolphin-emu/WiimotePair
