Re:Flatpak – An Insecurity Nightmare on Monday October 19, 2026 @10:17AM (#50152815)
Yesterday I wanted to download small utility to change Fans Curve in my Lenovo Legion laptop. There was an option to download it with flatpack. When I saw the summary:

- small utility 100kB

- libraries needed to sandbox small utility 1GB

I just $##@#$@&$¡! And I searched more for *.deb package

Re:You could have invented transformers from memory on Saturday October 17, 2026 @12:11PM (#50132341)
So I saw this:

"Here are the terms we’ll use throughout. A memory store is a function $f$ that holds $M$ memories, for $i = 1, \ldots, M$. A memory is one key-value pair: a key $k_i \in \reals^{d_k}$, used for lookup based on similarity, and a value $v_i \in \reals^{d_v}$, which is what we want to retrieve. To use $f$, we query it with an input $x$, and it recalls an output $f(x)$. A good memory store recalls $v_i$ when we query it with $k_i$, or with another vector similar to $k_i$. In the literature, a memory store that recalls by similarity is called an associative memory."

And thought "I need to disable noscript because I get crappy page view". I disabled and it didn't help. It's a little sad that there is no explanation in the article what all that dollar signs mean. I feel excluded

I would like to see in such simulators:

- multi GPU configuration (hetero and homo)

- PCIe gen chooser (3.0/4.0/5.0)

- is nvlink enabled (2 cards, 2 x 2 cards, 3 x 2 cards)

- is PCIe bifurcated or CPU native (threadripper pro for example)

Re:Attack of the Vibe Coded Photoshop Clones on Monday October 12, 2026 @03:39AM (#50052738)
What a sad rant... I am glad that there is vibecoded Photoshop alternative. I used it this weekend to correct some photos for printing and it did well. I am not an artist or professional, I just want to have my "photoshoppy" software to do regular stuff I learned when I first launched Photoshop 6.0. That is what I want, to not change the way I work I learned in the beginning.

It feels like a delicate psychosis. I can understand it, accepting a change is very very hard for me too.

It is possible that before GTA6 we will have GTA6 on a PC, thanks to the latest jailbreak for PS5 and AnyPS5 project ;)
Re:Beam: Reflection's 501B open-weight model on Tuesday October 06, 2026 @06:19AM (#49976490)
I'm on the waiting list... Couldn't find any download option, so I suppose it is only obtainable through their API. Strange way to distribute open weights model.
Can it route to locally or LAN hosted Qwen or some other open weights model?
Figma srigma, who cares, they still in business?

Re:When did Google get so f-ing weird? on Monday September 28, 2026 @01:35AM (#49874029)
That is why I'm turning slowly to Kagi, first the free tier. My first search results were weird, I searched for "CMK32GX4M2A2666C16 ver3.41" and it wasn't much relevant as I thought it would be

I just don't see the difference, as I said, visiting my regular sites is what I do on the Internet 95% of the time.
