Maybe only tangentially related, but does anyone user Apple Keychain as their primary password manager? Is that even a viable option if you're completely within the Apple ecosystem?

Maybe a better phrasing is "the body becomes accustomed to a certain size"?
Re:The “agencies of one” storm is coming on Friday March 04, 2022 @11:52AM (#30557187)
I dug a bit deeper. Looks like it's truly a "agency of one" in that he doesn't outsource his work. Rather, the customers are given access to a queue (that they can prioritize) where only one item in the queue is actively being worked on at a time.

It's likely to also be one of the first apps I decide to uninstall when my phone's storage becomes somewhat limited.

Question in regards to the user consent pop-ups on websites: On sites that continue to let you browse without making a selection (say the consent banner in on the bottom of the browser window), If I don't make any choice, accept or reject, what happens? Am I giving consent by default?
We've started using flowmapp on all our client projects and it works very well in communicating both user flows and sitemaps
Their video player is probably one of the worst I've experienced. It [1] requires me to hit play twice to get a video to actually play almost 100% of the time. [2] the audio frequently defaults to max, then adjusts to the level I've previously selected. [3] It frequently auto plays if I've scrolled down the feed a ways, and [4] frequently only plays 50% of the video and restarts or locks up.

A couple things I would love to see in iMessage having used WhatsApp as my primary messaging app for the past several years: (1) Direct replying/quoting to a specific message. (2) More granular group chat controls (eg ability to add/remove/leave group message threads. (3) Ability to rename group chats so that I don't have 3 chat threads that contain the same first two people plus someone else
Re:Oil Companies Touted Recycling to Sell More Plastic on Saturday September 12, 2020 @08:21PM (#24457123)
This mirrors my experience in Germany. We would often save up a dozen or so bottles and bring them all to the grocery store where they could be returned. If we had a beer on the way to the bars we would typically just set the empty next to a garbage bin for someone to collect and return.
>... one of the main problems is that most of the production lines are geared up to producing large e.g. 25kg sacks, given 96% of sales are to bulk buyers for trades like bakeries, with only 4% of flour sold direct to consumers in retail outlets in small 1kg or 1.5kg bags.

For anyone who's interested, The Indicator podcast by Planet Money briefly touches on this point in their most recent episode on potatoes in the US.

For anyone looking for flour, here's a nice resource I found that lists local grains & flours. (It looks like they list a couple options in England. Truthfully though, I'm not sure how close they are to you).

For those on macOS, I use the app Clocker[0]. It lives in your menu bar, allows you to input your own desired cities/time zones/locations, has a bunch of different customization options, and also has a "future slider" that allows you to see what time it is in different locations at different times.

Yes, this was the one! Would be interesting to see an update here as it looks like this was from 2017
This reminds me of the individual who was doing an in-depth comparison of the history of Google Maps, Apple Maps, and how far ahead Google Maps was. They dove into comparisons for walking paths, "activity hot spots", green spaces, 3D mapping of buildings, etc. Does anyone remember the post and maybe has a link?
Is there a way to step back a release for those who have upgraded to Catalina and subsequently want to go back to Mojave?
I just wish the touch strip had haptic feedback. I don't mind it, but often times I'll find that I've accidentally rested my finger on the escape key and can't figure out why applications/menus aren't working properly.

The CEO was Ron Johnson. Alex Blumberg did an interview with him on his Without Fail podcast where he briefly talks about his time at JC Penny (along with Target and Apple). The whole interview is good, but JCP starts around the 28-29 minutes.

Doesn't that ignore OP's additional point:

>If you use different fonts on each platform, the design will be slightly different, trying to manage a cross-platform design system ... becomes challenging. Every time, designer has to pick the right font, potentially do 2-3 designs with different font to make sure they all look how they want them to. Also then each time user or anyone in the company looks at the design on their device, it look will slightly different.

Where simply commissioning this font to be used globally for everything from product to marketing will reduce the amount of time spent on creating design materials (ultimately saving the company money or allowing their employees to focus on more important tasks)?

Or his other point where commissioning this font incurs a one off cost and reduced spending in licensing.

> Since there isn't universal cross-platform fonts, it means you often have to embed fonts, and in some cases license them. Licensing fonts is different than just buying a font file. Even for small developers quality fonts can run up to $50,000 per app (imagine what the licensing costs are for a global company with large userbase!). With licensing you never get exactly what you want in terms of expression and functionality, and other brands can easily buy the same thing.
