Any potential customers that matter have already been advised by their lawyers to not touch AGPL with a 10 meter pole. This includes Google:

https://opensource.google/documentation/reference/using/agpl...

This extends way beyond the superficial toxic license stuff. There is a lot of legal ambiguity around copyleft licenses and most companies just don't want to deal with it unless it's absolutely unavoidable.

In practice it's difficult to do and offer remote access.

What is the point of ALPRs if not for the database capability? To prove small town Sally the real estate agent is cheating with Bill the bank manager?

How many of these bandwagoning Flock Karens have Ring doorbells to keep undesirables off their porch?

Canadians are doing an adequate job of ruining Canada without external help.

They're worried about the "orange king" but put the actual queen/king on their money. Still getting cornholed by England after all these years. Hilarious.

You convinced yourself Canada doesn't have suburbs or rural areas?

Have you ever left your province or even your four square blocks?

Canada is 98% rural by land area (though ~18% of the population lives there).

Canada basically IS the US with metric and the people talk funny.

I don't understand the overwhelming praise. This product is just bizarre. Who is this for?

What's with the giant numbers and tiny symbols? I know where the numbers are from muscle memory. I don't have the symbols memorized.

Haptic feedback when you use the command key? Why?

No number pad, which would be something useful.

This is like The Homer of keyboards. Does it play La Cucaracha out of the speaker if you push the knob four times?

You clearly have the technical capabilities but the product requirements are bonkers.

Why is everyone interviewed a gaijin?

Take with a mountain of salt.

> That’s wild, where do all the people from Aurora work?

Last I checked, Aurora had a large blue-collar Latino population, many of whom are successful tradespeople.

These people commute to construction sites elsewhere during the day, and perhaps your own neighborhood, where HN posters snitch to the town if they use a leaf blower within 1500' of their home office.

> generate almost nothing for the local community

HN forgets how edge computing or even Cloudflare works.

Ground floor retail in every datacenter.

More nail salons, a Halloween store open for two months out of the year, and boutique bakeries (that will be out of business in 6 months).

You might want to let the angry townspeople know because they're already passing symbolic measures and convincing the abuelas they're going to drain Lake Michigan to power these things:

Isn't Chicago filled with rail yards full of humming diesel locomotives? I couldn't think of a bigger eyesore. You can't plant trees in a rail yard.

The present anti-datacenter hysteria reeks of the "5G mind control cancer machines" of a few years ago.

All of your complaints are true of present-day Reddit.

It has become completely unusable.
