And that’s not true! He did want to keep the editor stable and available for many platforms and compatible with vi. Rejected proposals break one of these rules.

I loved using it to write and browse my html files. It can do troff too <3
No, the editor is "ex" (for extended ed…) and "vi" is it's other face… (when you call vi, it’s same as calling ex then issuing :visual command…)
And they're "codenames" not supposed to be as obvious as names…
That's because "ed" was the "editor" (and that later was abbreviated "ed"…) when sed born.
As unique as: Go, Python, R, Rust, Word, Writer, --"
And before the rise of heavy IDE, you need some coffee to write all those SomeObscureWord.longLongStuf.notSoShortOne.LastSentence()
Do you mean doas ?

Instead of comparing to LaTeX format, it should compare to ConTeXt…

You mean worst but successful 'cause of harsh marketing?

What about Octave and R, which are open source and for $0?

Does read-only mode not suffer from some global settings? Also, what happens when the reading instance doesn't have all the used fonts for example?
I may be wrong, but I think RCS protocol is published (so Apple and any other can support it if they want) whereas the protocol for iMessage is not (so no one but Apple can make compatible app under Android)
Re:Firefox Development Is Moving from Mercurial to Git on Monday November 06, 2023 @06:34AM (#38161228)
It's like they don't know that they can have a clone on Github and still continue using Mercurial.

On the other hand, they're moving from open source tool to a closed ecosystem and depends on microsoft. Very sad.

Also to use with existing git repos: https://gitless.com/ and https://github.com/frostming/legit

I've worked with Fossil for two years and half, and same things apply.

- I've used Fossil within a team of three and we were able to sync from each other's laptop without central server. We used it also for bug tracking, with no additional stuff to install.

- I've used in the same company with larger teams on different projects on central server over https or ssh.

- We've worked with github and other external central servers of Git repositories.

There's also one constant here: `fossil` :) It's a nice discovery for me, after Mercury (which I still use for my personal projects) and they are doing the job with ease (clean and less error prone interfaces.) I'm not selling you something and not trying to convince you they're better (I don't care as I can use them and interact with your git repos and will be transparent) ; alternatives were asked and i point some out, that's all. :)

One is saying: I don't want to consume electricity, so respect my choice when I light off in some rooms.

But all fans are replying: your living room consumption is less than your bed room one.

Sad.

I do, as do many other non-native I know, unless you write it "shouldn't" :)
Practicing seven languages here (and knowing some others a bit) and having the same feeling. However, I'll put French (one of my primary languages) as ex-aequo.
> Truth be told, English is actually one of the easier languages out there.

Sure …when, as native, you don't have to spent years leaning it that easier language …like others.

Oh wait, you dunno toki-pona nor esperanto :(

Yes, `git pull` and you have your repo synced. But guess why people are using Github (or alternative forges)? They want issues and maybe documentation/wiki etc. And Fossil has all those features too and that's the "all" you sync. ;)

(there was a name missing:) and second because Github gave it an interface
