Software should do what I want it to, not stick to a spec.

Big N, really?

Hey at least Chrome lets you can bypass SSL errors. Firefox makes it impossible to bypass SSL errors if the site uses HSTS. So much for the browser for power users.
It is not unacceptable to say that people of different sexes behave differently. That is dismissive and also anti-science.
That’s not wishful, that’s straight delusional.

This is precisely what happened in Argentina.

People cry about gerrymandering all day here and then downvote your comment.

Multiple official websites such as https://gdpr.eu/ have cookie banners.

It’s in Europe.

Why not? It paints Ukrainians as ingenious, and makes it look like they will win the war with their suave cleverness, so this is a great candidate for an upvote.
No, it’s not the economy. All the people my age who have children are the less financially and intellectually equipped to be parents. Yet they are doing fine.
Right, it’s the same in Spain, a similar country culturally. On top of that they act as if they are doing you a favour being with you. A matriarchal society that makes them feel very entitled.
Enterprises respond to market forces, as is natural. A massive increase in labour results in lower wages. Enterprises don’t want to give away money in the same way labourers don’t want to give away labour, but mass unskilled immigration has turned it into a heavily unbalanced market for the lower end.
If there is something Congress will always be functional for is increasing spending.
That’s some damn bad bus factor.
It came unwound when we allowed mass immigration to destroy the wages of the lower end and stopped building to respond to the housing demand. That can be easily undone, if the powers to be allowed it.
It is not, which is why it had to be manually reposted with faked timestamps.
SCP was not interesting when this was first posted two days ago and it still is not interesting today.
That’s very different from the website not working on the default settings of Firefox, which is what most users are expected to be running.

Why would the EU fine you for something you did before you had operations in the EU? I don’t think it works that way.
Re:The hunt for a perfect laptop continues on Monday July 14, 2025 @11:35AM (#44561399)
I spent two months recently trying to find a thinkpad worth buying. Failed for two reasons:

- Too damn many SKUs, and despite that, the combination you want (say, screen type, CPU and weight) doesn’t exist OR is not available for months.

- Despite how dramatic the advancements in CPUs both from intel and AMD have been recently, all machines come with really old CPUs, sometimes two years old, and at full price. If a new CPU is released, you will be waiting at least one year to get it… if it is available in the combination that you desire (cf. my previous point)

So… I ended up getting a MacBook. Yes, slightly more expensive, but despite that, you don’t feel ripped off.

What’s the EU going to do to you if you don’t have operations in the EU?

VMware wants to sell to European clients. If they didn’t they wouldn’t have cookie banners.

They don’t track Bob at 17th Rosewood St. They put him into groups of things they think he is likely to buy. Which is close to targeting people.
In gmail you can long press a link to get it to open in external safari. But, it’s undoubtedly painful and annoying.
That’s not how it works. There has not been a direct vote on whether insulting politicians should be legal. They probably stuck that inside some other set of changes to the law and called it a day. It’s anything but democratic.
It’s actually the opposite, no? If it’s about security it makes sense they choose to compromise the security of their platform only where they are forced to.
Is that last sentence in good faith? What is this, the Middle Ages? Is there any reason not to be able to insult a politician if I feel like it?
Cars in Europe are also more expensive because the EU allowed all brands to buy one another and now they don’t have to compete in price anymore.
> It is possible to live comfortably in most of Europe for €1000-€1500/month

Nice. Where can I get that salary in Spain?

I don’t imagine left-leaning people will cheer on the loss of cheap labour for millionaires.
