In this one case they are right.
it was game-over to your opinion when you purchased their product and use a proprietary client to connect to the their proprietary servers.
If they want to break every single feature, while also denying access to older versions of the client, there's nothing you can do. Besides cancelling the membership, that is. But in this case there is nothing the changelog that would have helped you.
...all that is the complete opposite of Mozilla though.
not to say more trusted.
Read my comment again and you will notice there's not a single comment against or in favour of tech. Not even an adjective next to tech, only to people.
The comment is exactly that some people can't tell the difference between two completely identical techs, just because they buy the marketing of one of them, despite it being a brand on top of the first.
Saying to your boss that the VP of something is incompetent and made a crappy site will get you fired. Saying there's this new Tech at google coded by god himself will get you a new cost-center and a promotion.
For the company, it will turn out as nice as it turned out to all those places renting mainframe contracts well into the 2000s.
There are some irony on the text, but to understand this is very naive.
The critic is at malicious/dumb people who latch to technologies without understanding them.
For argument sake, see how many people are defending coreOS etc, and how they claim to have decided to like it based on their superb expertise, yet they will likely fail to explain to you chroot or anything else containers are based on. Or how they will proclaim that LXC is pure garbage and Docker is better (i will not explain the joke, let them downvote :)
Bottom line: we are being sold bad ideas from the past, in new clothing, by the incompetents/malicious people, which megacorp is made of.
The same thing in TS adds at least one step (not to mention the rest of the tooling you will want)
So while a prefer it over JS, there's no arguing that it is more complex as now you require a build step for a language that only exist because people wanted a language without a build step.
Just because people buy snake oil, it doesn't make it a good product.
And this site (which i guess is just a couple lines of python collecting the data) is not bothering to distinguish any of the finer details.
The purpose of it is exactly to help you find other peers with the same content. It's a bunch of peer finding protocols on top of each other. Trackers, DHT, peer xchange, etc, etc
I mean, the data itself is all hashes, but very public hashes. Unless you hashed it yourself and shared only the hash ever, the reverse hash is a websearch away.
Sigh, people probably trust things like this today because FB(whatsapp)/Google/slack/discord forces you to sign up with valid phone numbers and probably expose that as your ID.
Even hints that for directories, etc at the end.
And all those grad students on a teaching scholarship were told to remain in the US because their scholarship is tied to being residents of the State for some tax reason or another for the institution.
fun times.
Advanced users get root on their phones, and use linux on their computers. And as a consequence, they must fight uphill battles or outright give up their access to some tools/networks/games, effectively censoring them there for unrelated choices.
This is the modern equivalent of being silenced by email spam filters false-positives, but today, nobody gives this a thought.
Turn out landslides take the cameras/cables first thing.
In the end, this is only used for policing, tracking individuals, and issuing tons of traffic tickets.
Slashdot also allows you to mark the few people that make those (and political) comments that are often upvoted as friend or foe. That is the ultimate fix if scrolling past one or another comment bothers you. I personally only Friend people there to bump their comments, as i find scrolling past the bad one easier.
works much better.
Also the moderation model for slashdot is golden. I strongly suggested anyone interested in online forum design to take a look at the source code. The idea of rating comments based on a few categories, allowing readers to assign different weight to each categories, and forcing voters (moderators) to abstain from commenting when voting, works really well and solve problems that are impossible here or on reddit/facebook/etc.
Can the data be licensed as GPL-3 or similar?
North was a scam, and was about to be bought by patent trolls. This was a legal move by alphabet. They pretty much paid ransom to the North (Thalmic labs) founders to not be harassed by trolls later on.
I guess it at least shows that google haven't abandoned google-glass entirely (or their legal dept doesn't know they aren't in the glass business any more, i wouldn't doubt it)
Also funny how every app shows it. Guess IOS14 will be known by non technical users as "the cookie-law iphone version" and everything will continue as usual.
(ignoring everyone young enough to not remember that iphone first many years didn't have copy paste)
The iphone NEVER replaced a computer.
It replaced the television. No need for copy paste there.
The ipad is today trying, very shy, to hint at replacing a couple small use cases of the computer.
You speak like the free-for-all tax tools didn't work for you. Do you rather the US model? where you have to pay $100~300 every year for exactly the same tools from a single private company that has a de facto monopoly because of close ties to the government?
Also, in the US, a transfer from your checking account (where you get your paycheck) to your credit card account (where credit card purchases show up) to pay up your monthly credit card bill, in the same bank, same client, you literally see both on the same screen on your internet bank, takes two to FIVE business day. Let that sink in when talking about US banking being archaic.
Even with the more realistic mods, which brings the most basic things like seasons(!!!), it is a futile fight against the bugs and bad UI.
farm sim is nothing but an advert for tractor brands.
Watch a couple youtube videos but NEVER pay it. you've been warned :)
