Yes, great site. Made me create one for my local area ;)
Re:When Working Remotely Fails in Practice on Wednesday March 14, 2018 @04:09PM (#16587857)
It feels like this is more about "how working across timezones fails in practice, for this team".

"From 9-10am, I was often unable to work much because the team was on lunch." I don't understand why the team being at lunch would cause someone to stop working..

Re:PuTTY 0.68 has been released on Tuesday February 21, 2017 @11:04PM (#13702924)
I was going to say putty does not have an installer, but TIL putty now has an installer..

Re:DigitalOcean releases team accounts on Wednesday June 10, 2015 @01:37AM (#9690264)
They wont allow a single account to be part of multiple teams. For each client I guess I have to create a new DO account, less than ideal. But still better than before.
reddit that fickle mistress.
Re:Don't Wake Up the Programmer on Tuesday July 22, 2014 @09:58PM (#8072559)
Wow I started to read this, then started thinking oh just another "leave me alone while I program" post from 5 years ago. After reading the comments here I went back and read the complete post. Glad I did. That was a great way to describe how interruptions kill the processes.
Re:Ask HN: How to deal with bullshit DMCA threat ? on Sunday July 20, 2014 @10:24PM (#8062224)
So he should lose because a website he used, uses godaddy? WTF?
Why a high speed pursuit, can't the Tesla be remotely tracked and disabled?
Re:Facebook was down on Thursday June 19, 2014 @04:05AM (#7914982)
Maybe it will stay down long enough so sites stop requiring facebook to interact with the site.

You want to also get this to your mavens.
Re:The Bay Bridge is gradually disappearing from Google Maps on Saturday August 31, 2013 @05:38PM (#6308220)
It is also showing the new bridge with east and west lanes side by side.
It shows my timezone as Australia in the preview? I'm in US/Pacific time zone $ date Sun May 26 12:10:52 PDT 2013
Re:Show HN: UUID as a Service on Saturday December 29, 2012 @12:46AM (#4981272)
Why do I feel like I'm using up a UUID each time I run it.
Why do FreeBSD users always have to 'defend' their choice. I wonder if every time someone tells me that they run some distro of Linux I should ask them why they don't use FreeBSD.
Re:Rootkit infects Linux web servers on Wednesday November 21, 2012 @07:41PM (#4817048)
I don't have access to a system with the root kit, but something like comparing the reported size of the file and the number of bytes you can read might work

if ls -l /etc/rc.local | awk '{print $5}' != \ cat /etc/rc.local | wc -c

Also looks like you might be able to see it running with a ps also.

I think that is also why managers don't like off site employees. Upper management might think a remote employee is the same as and outsourced Person. And decide to outsource due to your successful remote employees.
Re:Handbook of Text manipulation on Unix on Saturday March 17, 2012 @01:47PM (#3717617)
join was new to me. I like it....

Always happy to learn a new command.

Won't people just start creating 2 accounts. One with only "approved" content, then a second account where all their real friends are also connected via their second account.

It will make it even harder to keep tabs on them.

Re:Are we all really just Craigslist? on Friday March 02, 2012 @05:41PM (#3658690)
I like that the 'rants and raves' and adult services are the only two links that show visited.

The other products do one thing and try and do it well, where craigs list tries to do it all, without doing much.

Re:Everyone dials in on Wednesday February 29, 2012 @09:39PM (#3650690)
We do the same thing on my team of 12, 9 of us in one office with 3 remote people. The remote people dont feel any more remote than the person 30 feet from you.
