Why the fuck are they even referencing the shuttle protests in that article? What does that have to do with anything?
Re:Emscripten port of DOSBox on Sunday January 26, 2014 @01:06AM (#7124096)
I'd love to benchmark these two solutions.
Is this even a problem with Google's certificate pinning? Chrome would prevent the user from accessing Drive if it was MITM'd.
I didn't know this was up until somebody told me to ctrl-reload. Nice one with the 10yr cached soft-500 page. :P

Now that our brittle forum is back, let's get back to work nitpicking the Android UIs that aren't quite beautiful enough! This is not enough drop shadows!

Re:Tydlig – Calculator Reimagined for iPad and iPhone on Sunday December 15, 2013 @04:28AM (#6908861)
Haha! I was going to suggest Droid48 until that last sentence. Yes, I emulate my HP48G whenever I feel the need to fire up a calculator.

HP RPN can't be beaten for serious number crunching. It's not pretty, but by god, it is EFFECTIVE!

Pure HN gold.
Re:Why was this secret? on Wednesday December 11, 2013 @10:02PM (#6892562)
Just because privacy is worthless to you does not means it's not of value to me. Throw away your privacy but please don't contribute to the meme that privacy is disposable.

Lots of people have secrets that are harmless but can destroy them if they end up in the wrong hands, e.g. homosexuality within a conservative community.

Hooray, BeyondPod support!
Re:Google sponsors over $150k of grants for female programmers on Tuesday December 10, 2013 @02:42AM (#6879484)
Keep it classy guys.
I went from C++ and Java in school, to C for work, then C# for work, and now I'm back full circle to C++ and Java.

I don't really care about the language I use as long as it's the right tool for the job. I think C is the most frustrating because of its verbosity and how explicit I need to be, but I understand that there are circumstances where the low overhead is useful.

Re:Gifpop.io – Print gifs with the magic of lenticular printing on Thursday December 05, 2013 @02:53AM (#6853164)
It'd be nice if I could upload 10 PNG files so as to not be bound by the 256 color limitation of GIFs.

You're the product, not the consumer.

Make the web better for all forms of content so that people don't resort to proprietary tech?
Can we put up billboards in East Texas letting potential jurists know what the stakes for the country are?

So much more evil than what CC companies already do today, amirite?
Re:Winamp shutting down on December 20th, 2013 on Thursday November 21, 2013 @01:44AM (#6773407)
Winamp.com and associated web services

Associated web services sounds a lot like Shoutcast.

AOL wants to double down on stupid journalism. Winamp is a distraction.

They do? I thought sideloading was a developer-only privilege.
Move fast and break things!

Extensions can augment other websites' functionality, e.g. using "Missing E" for making Tumblr suck less.
Re:How I Embarrassed Myself in My Interview With Google on Saturday October 19, 2013 @03:44PM (#6577536)
Then you've turned the interview into a waste of time. There is no actionable information that is produced from that answer.

If you honestly are looking for a job and aren't looking to make some kind of F-U 2 The Man statement, do yourself a favor and don't give an answer like that.

Re:How I Embarrassed Myself in My Interview With Google on Saturday October 19, 2013 @03:38PM (#6577519)
I am terribly out of Ruby practice. Choosing Ruby as his language, presumably because it is the language he is best at, and then whiffing on the basics is probably what did him in. The brevity of phone interviews and the need to whittle down a massive pool of applicants to a manageable stream means that the interviewer is going to infer a lot from a little.

He should have chosen a language he is better at. If Ruby is indeed his top language, and he's rusty at that, then perhaps OP just isn't fit for a coding job at this point in time?
