If the goal is to log in new users immediately after registration, is it possible to not leak whether a username is already registered?

If [email protected] is not registered and I register it, I will be logged in (even if it does not belong to me).

If [email protected] is already registered, the site can neither let me register it nor log me in.

If non-labor prices rise before salaries, salary increases would need to compensate for the already paid higher prices.

I honestly don’t comprehend this answer. You mentioned unconscious bias in interviews:

> Having unscripted conversations is one of the best way to be swayed by unconscious bias in interviews.

Yet, lack of diversity of thought is “easy to spot”. Without being swayed by unconscious biases?

How is diversity of thought measured?
I don’t know of any way that is more reliable or less risky. There are more accessible ways (e.g. maximize time outside without burning), but I wouldn’t think of them as reliable, safe or time-efficient.

Determining vitamin D levels will vary by country. You’d have to research how it works.

I’m not aware that healthy people can get too much vitamin D from the sun. In combination with the many beneficial effects of natural light (see melatonin, circadian rhythm, mood, etc.), maximizing time outside without burning seems like the best strategy to me. I just find it easier to avoid getting sunburn with the above calculator. Day-by-day variations are small enough that you might be able to make educated guesses most of the time and not check every time you go outside.

If this collides with one’s life (e.g. work-hours), supplements could be considered, but those come without the other effects of natural light.

To check the current UV index and ozone column:

If it were that simple…

Parameters that affect exposure time to produce a certain amount of vitamin D:

* Date, time

* Location

* Skin type

* Body exposure

* Clouds

* Ozone

* Elevation

* Surface

Here is a calculator from the Norwegian Institute for Air Research:

https://fastrt.nilu.no/README_VitD_quartMEDandMED_v2.html

In addition, vitamin D requirements and synthesis might vary between people and health status.

I believe it was possible in the past using URL parameters (e.g. complete=0 to disable auto-suggest) but it does not seem to work anymore.

Here it was documented in 2012:

There are (or at least were) others with related effects.

Looking at something indeed doesn't mean paying attention to it. That's why head-up displays can be dangerous (just like handsfree phone usage).

Daniel Simons, a professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Illinois, says this in his episode of the You Are Not So Smart podcast:

http://youarenotsosmart.com/2012/04/24/yanss-podcast-episode...

Head-up displays are discussed starting at 12:31.

If I remember correctly, pilots were at danger to miss planes on the runway while using a head-up display.

"Even pilots use it – it's safe." Is it?

I am satisfied with the results of optipng which is free software.

I just run: optipng -o7 *.png

http://optipng.sourceforge.net/

It gets in the way as soon as the browser window is less than 1287px in width. Did I mess up my measurement or is this really 1287px? My browser is rarely that wide.

Why don't they just focus on marketing Diaspora instead of investing time in companion products?

Are the companion products intended to drive users to Diaspora?

Most of those how-to guides lack meaningful data and/or studies and/or logic.

Just one example: "The domain name doesn’t matter"

How on earth can one come up with such a broad statement without studying the answer for... years?

Oh, he or she "learned it". Now, you can call me a believer!
