Re:Ask HN: What are you working on? (September 2026) on Tuesday September 15, 2026 @06:57AM (#49710550)
Please make it work without a login, at least offer some free to use searaches so that we can see how it works.
Re:What if the browser was the server? on Tuesday May 12, 2026 @07:58AM (#48106999)
I think a lot of companies already trying to use this stuff, not SQL related but rather focusing more on the frontend. In reality, this causes more issues, like data fragmentation, versioning between different versions, security and at the end of the day it's a either a dev cost or server cost to implement this.

Usually, server costs are much much cheaper than dev cost to implement all this into FE, but it's a viable thing for the future.

Re:Edge.js: Run Node apps inside a WebAssembly sandbox on Tuesday March 17, 2026 @08:03PM (#47420057)
noob question, but how can you create a localhost:3000 port, when ported to wasm, in the browser?

I think this is a cool demo for you to show, at least in my mind this might be a little mind blowing + maybe a db?

I know there are wasm dbs availble that are very light, but so that maybe it's a plus to consider.

Re:Why I Do Programming on Saturday July 26, 2025 @06:01AM (#44692851)
This article resonated with me, another fellow pawn script, but I used to do mods in the old half life and counter-strike and some other hl mods. Similarily I started from ms-dos, pascal from school and slowly went to the html part. I had the impression that my programming desire just faded in time with so many jobs, but It might be what you described as burnout... who knows, but I learned something from this.

Best of luck!

This is amazing! But beware admin, it seems that the RAM can be hijacked and increased...
Re:Ask HN: Books about people who did hard things on Friday January 10, 2025 @06:26AM (#42654711)
I share your thoughts. Sometimes you just need to be at the right place, at the right time, solving the exact problem and this is troublesome, especially in this era when so much is already invented.

Maybe I just have a wrong view, but I don't know how to decouple from this.

My side project is about market making in a very particular way / or niched between decentralised exchanges and centralised one. The good thing is that this industry is so big that even as a small competitor I can do a lot. I don't have a product, just a basic page that's broken here and there https://asset.plus/, my actual revenue comes from my bots trading. I am currently expanding my infrastructure, but I really have to take care of costs because servers for low latency are expensive.
Re:I Am So Sick of Leetcode-Style Interviews on Tuesday June 04, 2024 @03:48AM (#40571769)
I share the exact feeling as you do, it's a lot of bs that has almost no value. None of those problems reflect what business needs to solve; everything today can be Googled and fixed with straightforward code.

Usually, the computing part isn't the part that prevents a business from scaling more (servers are cheap).

I hate having to pay for an article, can this be stopped from promotions on HN?
Re:Economics of Minecraft on Thursday December 28, 2017 @07:25PM (#16026409)
What a great story, I remember I found the same mod on a server and I played for one month on a daily basis until I got rich, mostly by taking advantage of the trading system as well. Just that in my case the economy crashed and we were forced to start over.

Why do you always post from a source which requires you to pay upfront to read the article?
Re:Remote work statistics for April 2017 on Tuesday April 25, 2017 @11:31AM (#14194409)
Can you add it percentual? I mean I can do the math, but I think it will be a lot more useful to see out of the total available remote jobs were it stands. Thanks!
Re:Remote work statistics for April 2017 on Tuesday April 25, 2017 @09:48AM (#14193450)
Interesting, how about adding them into a graph and show it on a weekly basis? I always wondered, plus if you could do something like avg salary and such... and evolution. Also to take in consideration the country and inflation over there, plays a big role.

What do you think about this?

Ask HN: How can I improve entertainment site?

Any suggestions how to improve entertainment site?(url: vimow.com)Right now the website is scraping for videos that are trending on other sites. But besides web scraping, it seems that it's not enough.I know that a lot of people are coming for the download mp3 section, which I really want to eliminate. That brings a lot of traffic, but it's crappy... I want to move away from that area. That...

Look into angular and react, and do at least 2 side projects to show off that you have some experience. Moreover, you should know some of the jquery.

Learn about SPA, those are future oriented, and it's just starting to catch up.

Re:Ask HN: When you feel stuck in life on Friday July 22, 2016 @04:02PM (#12146362)
Besides what other guys mentioned, I think what you really lack is a good focus on a long-term objective. I decided to experiment what I consider a decent salary to live off monthly, then I've set my goal to retire... before retirement. To do this I considered how much I would generate from the dividend in stocks and other assets... there's a lot of reading and planning.

This is one suggestion what you could do, plus you'll put your money to work for you, not just you for it.

Why do you people upvote articles where we have to pay to read them ?
Re:Ask HN: Should I mention this during Job interviews? on Sunday January 10, 2016 @07:42AM (#10875132)
I started the same, mentioned some of my significant projects over each year in my cv and i'm 23 and working as a senior in PHP now.
