Re:Hackers launch attack platform for common people on Monday March 21, 2022 @11:09AM (#30754968)
I wonder how effective are these attacks when coming from outside Russia? From my limited understanding they can simply block all the traffic coming from abroad and be done with it.
Re:$250k of DigitalOcean credits for YC startups on Wednesday February 03, 2016 @08:40PM (#11031397)
AWS package, if I understand correctly, only includes training and support for non-portfolio companies. You're still limited to their free tier for services themselves.
Re:UK moves to restrict Internet freedom on Sunday April 15, 2012 @02:17PM (#3844240)
I think the amount of torture, kidnapping, murder and other government "evil practices" hasn't increased as dramatically in the past 10 years as public exposure to these issues did.
Re:Ask HN: When was the last time you printed out code? on Friday March 16, 2012 @10:41AM (#3713488)
Last time I printed code was during my first semester in university. That was some 5 years ago. We had to prepare printed reports of all our assignments. Those were dark times.
Re:Firstrowsports.tv Was Seized by ICE Tonight on Thursday February 02, 2012 @02:58AM (#3541889)
The site is not accessible through .tv domain, but .com domain is working and redirects to http://www.firstrow.tv/

According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.tv the .tv TLD is administered by Verisign.

EDIT: strangely enough, www.firstrowsports.tv is still working (I'm connecting from Europe, so there might be caching involved), but firstrowsports.tv redirects to the ICE notice.

Re:This is why I don't give you a job on Saturday January 07, 2012 @01:40AM (#3436404)
Europe (at least in my country, eastern Europe) has strict social security laws. Firms cannot fire a person if he/she takes a vacation for child care (men are encouraged to do that too!). The vacation lasts up to 2 years (IIRC). The time is paid for by the government, but you lose your highly-qualified and trained employee for 2 years.

Facts aside, I don't approve the author making such a big thing of it though it sometimes may be an issue (if you're hiring for a long project where replacing people is REALLY expensive).

No, this is Linux!
Re:Convert your Facebook friend contacts to CSV on Saturday May 28, 2011 @12:33PM (#2594696)
The letter might hit some complications since the site is outside of US.
Re:Poll: Which pointing device do you prefer? on Wednesday March 23, 2011 @06:24AM (#2358802)
I also like Track-Point on my ThinkPad. Probably the benefit is that I can use it without removing any of my hands from the keyboard.
