LMK when the Vim plugin is live ;-)

Excited to try this out later. Starred. Thank you!

Re:Projectable: A TUI file manager built for projects on Sunday June 25, 2023 @06:17PM (#36473207)
I can dig this; eager to tinker with it later. There are a few options in this space (Broot being my favorite). The ability to define custom commands (as Broot does) is powerful. Will be watching this repo; thank you for Projectable and best of luck to ya.

Love the callout. Is the source available? Any opportunity to self host?

Re:Docker Storm – Container Visualizaiton on Sunday December 18, 2022 @01:11PM (#34040531)
So I need to setup prometheus, granfana, node exporter, and cadvisor before running this? All of the above give me everything I need to monitor a swarmcluster. And if I want multi-user access to the graphs, I’d configure auth in Grafana.

Further, if I were to monitor Swarm without the Prom+Grafana stack, I’d be looking at:

What is the value-add of Storm?

Re:Ask HN: (How) Should I monetize this? on Tuesday June 21, 2022 @04:12PM (#31828576)
You’re right. The line to draw here is really non-commercial vs commercial, personal vs business. Though I can’t think of a simple way about it that does not rely on some trust (e.g., a business self-identifying itself as a business and paying up, despite it being easy to lie and freeload).
Re:Ask HN: (How) Should I monetize this? on Tuesday June 21, 2022 @04:07PM (#31828521)
I’m happy to hear that my fear is justified, lol. But yeah, starting out I was just happy for the validation of people using my things. Now I don’t need the validation; if fewer folks use my app, but those who do pay and enjoy it, well I’d happier for that (and my wife would be too).

Fair point about support. I’m okay with the responsibility of patching bugs, but buying a license key to my app doesn’t mean I’m employed by the company to build features and custom functionality (though I get some business may expect otherwise). i.e., please buy my artwork, but I’m not required to help you hang it on your wall or do interior design.

The point about making something new given my experience… I think I have done that naturally, and that may be the thing that I capitalize on. Essentially my app may assume a freemium model, where certain features are “premium” and require payment. I guess the daunting part is the work in establishing and enforcing the walls, all without diminishing user experience. I spent a large part of the day reading up on how to make this happen, it doesn’t look as daunting as I thought this morning. Thanks for your input.

Ask HN: (How) Should I monetize this?

Years ago, I worked for a pittance as a Windows SysAdmin at a non-profit. In my off-hours, I hacked away creating many open-source tools in hopes of padding the resume and blossoming into a new gig.I did eventually land a more fruitful role as a software dev at MegaCorp. Fast-forward to now, I'm a much more seasoned developer/engineer, though my passion for the Windows ecosystem has diminished...

Interesting. Happy that I make a conscious effort to keep things as stock as is reasonable. UBlock, Bitwarden, Dark Reader; I assume I’m sitting comfortably in the 99%.
Re:Show HN: GitHub for Docker Images on Friday October 29, 2021 @11:15AM (#29039451)
This is a huge improvement over DockerHub's UI (both the UI and search), and it definitely feels like the familiar GitHub. Excellent work; bookmarked!
