There has to be some need for this in the legal industry. Good luck!
Re:Ask HN: Why is the last 10% always so hard? on Monday July 05, 2010 @10:51AM (#1488300)
That 10% is the difference between a hobby and a product.
Great concept - good luck!
Re:Open Coffee Club Atlanta - May 20th, 3PM on Sunday May 03, 2009 @11:57AM (#590933)
We have funding and customers. That means I actually work in an office and have responsibilities. Not easy to leave before 7pm.

"Startup" life is a lot different after you get out of the garage.

Re:Open Coffee Club Atlanta - May 20th, 3PM on Sunday May 03, 2009 @09:25AM (#590822)
How the heck does anyone meet for coffee at 3pm on a Wednesday? I love OCC, but it would help if these events were 8am/lunch/evening to at least give those with real jobs a chance to make them.

That being said, hope to make it.

Tell them you want a job at Zillow for $150k/year. You win, and they don't give in to your negotiations.
Re:Reality Check: What does Gartner really do? on Saturday May 17, 2008 @12:38AM (#192461)
They're great at looking smart, but anyone that has taken stats 101 can see right through their surveys. Attended a conference once where people just drilled the so-called expert of all the flaws in the data-collection methodology. Felt kinda bad for the person.
Re:Good book for economics on Sunday May 04, 2008 @02:22PM (#180901)
Not much else to add except I would recommend picking up two books as well.

1. A standard price theory text that will give you the basic tools of economists.

2. A book that provides real-world applications illustrating how these tools are used. (I agree - Basic Economics by Sowell is a great place to start.)

Re:Ask YC: Opinion of new startup Simplist? on Wednesday April 23, 2008 @11:22AM (#171572)
Solid design. Don't necessarily get the value prop. in a world of Google Docs/wikis - try to make that more obvious. Good start though.
Re:Wisconsin Sucks for Startups on Sunday April 20, 2008 @09:58AM (#168462)
You add so much value.

How is Austin?
Re:Any Hackers in Charlotte, NC? on Tuesday March 25, 2008 @10:27AM (#145692)
We're in Clemson. We make it up to Charlotte every now and then - definitely interested in some sort of meetup.

I'll show you an online magazine rack
Re:Balancing startup and school - with a Jolt on Wednesday February 27, 2008 @08:25AM (#124691)
The no sleep is tough for me. Historically, I've required about eight solid hours. Lately, I've found that with a morning exercise routine I can cut about two hours out of my night's sleep and still function fine. Anything less than six hours and I start to require a power nap during the day.
Often the usual response is something similar to "we are anxious to go through a formal valuation process should we determine this is an appropriate possible investment." It's certainly a bit of a chicken answer, but you can provide numbers such as revenue, product developments, and users to give an idea of what a proper valuation would be. The idea is to not price yourself out of their range during the first conversation.
