TIMN/Verge also has this note[0]:

Note: Our initial performance observations were focused on touch response and not system-wide performance, and were based on a Galaxy Nexus being used by one of Google’s staff. The demo units during the show were definitely smoother in operation. All of them featured an early build of Ice Cream Sandwich, however, so we’ll make our final calls on the phone once we have a review unit in hand.

note that this is just part 1 of 4. (I am assuming you didn't read all four parts, because that material would have to be covered impressively quickly to fit in 20 minutes)

portal: the flash version seems to work well enough. The directions are constant, but the momentum gives you time to shift your heading as you enter/exit portals

Re:How Google can still become the greatest company ever? on Tuesday August 23, 2011 @04:53AM (#2915888)
So, what is the current "greatest company ever"? What defines it?
On my SGS (not II) I can use volume-down as a ctrl key in terminal emulator.
Re:How I explained MapReduce to my Wife? on Friday August 05, 2011 @06:28AM (#2849626)
Like all good lessons, this one starts with a little lie and tells you the truth later on...

"Supriya : But how I will create different types of Chutneys?

Shekhar : Now you will see the missing phase of MapReduce — Shuffle phase. MapReduce will group all the outputs written by every Map based on the key. This will be automatically done for you. You can assume key as just a name of ingredient like Onion. So all the onion keys will be grouped together and will be transferred to a grinder which will just process onions. So, you will get onion Chutney. Similarly all the tomatoes will be transferred to the grinder marked for tomato and will produce tomato Chutney."

Re:Putting "Search" into Google yields a surprising result on Thursday July 28, 2011 @06:38PM (#2819273)
Yeah, I did the search, saw google.com.au first and wasn't surprised at all.

For those interested, but not interested enough to visit the AU site the results are: 1. www.google.com.au 2. www.bing.com 3. jobsearch.gov.au 4. www.dogpile.com 5. www.seek.com.au 6. www.search.com 7. www.webwombat.com.au 8. au.altavista.com 9. www.peoplesearch.com.au 10. www.search.org.au

Basically a bunch of search engines, a couple of job sites and a couple of sites with search in their name.

some more context from http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/14/steve-jobs-calls-blu-ray-...

"Blu-ray is just a bag of hurt. It's great to watch the movies, but the licensing of the tech is so complex, we're waiting till things settle down and Blu-ray takes off in the marketplace."

I wouldn't take that as apple never supporting blu-ray. Although given the quote is three years old, I wouldn't say it's likely either.

"it’s worth noting that Firefox 8 is as fast or faster than the latest Dev Channel build of Chrome 14. Chrome’s WebGL implementation is still faster, but with Azure, Firefox’s 2D performance is actually better than Chrome. JavaScript performance is also virtually identical."

Fx8 vs Chrome 15 might be very very similar...

Re:Why Your Form Checkboxes Need to Have Label Tags on Sunday June 19, 2011 @04:46AM (#2670568)
I think in this case "the text" refers to the label's text, not the text in the input that the label is @for.
Re:Top Missing PostgreSQL Features on Tuesday May 31, 2011 @08:50AM (#2602330)
"First and foremost, our takedowns have nothing to do with any sort of open source licensing violation. Both Yong and I handle developer relations behind the scenes. We give cuts to original authors at times, and I have posted sources to my source repository. Though there is a lot of rhetoric surrounding this, it is not an issue."

Re:(Ubuntu) 11.04, a leap forward on Monday May 02, 2011 @06:59AM (#2505831)
On the contrary, Unity broke all my keyboard shortcuts. I gave it a fair shake (used it during the beta, tried not to mark it down for bugginess) and am back to classic.

For my settings, multitasking with the keyboard is very easy - just press super and the relevant workspace number - just press super and the relevant character to launch a particular application

Re:Anime Site Treats Piracy as Market Failure on Thursday April 28, 2011 @05:48AM (#2492740)
I feel obliged to say that I've not had spammy emails from crunchyroll, either. Their "notifications" are quite spammy, however.
You're being disingenuous here. Anybody looking for information about jQuery's selectors will google "jquery selectors" and find that five-word phrase front and center. Or take a look at the jQuery front page and hover over "CSS3 Compliant" to see "Supports CSS 1-3 selectors and more!".

If you want to pick on something that claims compatibility, try Sizzle itself - http://sizzlejs.com/. In that case, you'll find a summary of alterations right at the top of its documentation https://github.com/jquery/sizzle/wiki .

http://api.jquery.com/category/selectors/ "Borrowing from CSS 1–3, and then adding its own, jQuery offers a powerful set of tools for matching a set of elements in a document."
Re:Can we skip the lame April Fool's submissions? on Friday April 01, 2011 @03:21PM (#2397624)
Even if we, the community, agree to stop April Fool's submissions. This submission is largely useless as April Fool's has already started (and ended in some places).

Next year, everybody will forget, people will be new and this submission won't change a thing.

From my results with that search, only 2 of the top 6 are How To articles, and they are the last two of the six.
