I do wonder what models it uses under the hood.
ChatGPT already knows more about me than Google did before LLMs, but would I switch to inferior models to preserve privacy? Hard tradeoff.
So is this already in Handy or you are referring to a feature of the underlying models you are still not actively using?
This looks great! What’s missing for me to switch from something like Wispr Flow is the ability to provide a dictionary for commonly mistaken words (name of your company, people, code libraries).
Stacked pull requests solve this.
It doesn’t matter how much you wait for review of a PR if you can just build on top of it.
Also, this workflow encourages smaller PRs that are faster and easier to review.
We implement this at my company through a tool called Graphite and review times usually don’t exceed 1-2 days.

Yes we do.
You can paste any plaintext in our editor and it will be split into tweets. Just put 4 newlines between one tweet and the next.
Hi Jonathan, Typefully is first and foremost a thread-writing app meant for publishing, this is why we need all those permissions.
Profiles could use a subset of permissions, but we prefer to keep things simple and have a unified login flow.

My brother is a somewhat hopeless 21-years-old, working in the service industry, who never completed his studies and spent most of his teenage years partying.I am a software engineer, running a tech startup and earning a top-five-percent salary in my home country. Here is the thing: I bet my ass my brother has my same IQ (if not higher). He is deep into video games and crazy good at them and a...
Amazing idea, just bought a copy.
Refreshing take. An actual analysis with threat modeling calling out all the fallacies of people that argue Whatsapp is better just because it uses E2EE by default.
Felice anno nuovo HN!
What a crazy year 2020 has been, looking forward to what's next.
This was hard to read. I am furious.
Fenced App Store make this problem 100x worse with their shitty search (especially the iOS one) and their hands-off approach with regards to IP. If you hold a trademark, you can bring other apps that yes that trademark in their name down.

This sounds interesting! Where can I read more?
Wow. Didn’t know you were such a small team. Cheers
Didn’t know about Geekbot, worth trying?
That's not the whole list. We spend around $500/month if we include everything.
We used to host our own stuff to spend less, like having our own Mailtrain instance instead of paying for an email marketing solution.
But if you do too much of that, you'll find yourself spending a lot of your time doing sys admin stuff, instead of working on your product. This can kill you, especially at an early stage.
As we scale our[1] revenues (currently at $5k MRR), that $500/m cost will become a lower and lower percentage and be almost negligible.

Heard this one before.
"Netflix is $10/m, so why would I buy Mailbrew (the product we make) for the same price?"
Apparently hundreds of people are happy to pay for quality indie software that solves their problems. We are among them.
Love Art or Product as well. Derrick is doing an amazing job.

Yeah this project was originally born as a “marketing” side project for Mailbrew.
If Mailbrew is focused reading, this is focused writing.
That being said, we haven’t seen that many signups coming from Typefully. Roughly 100.
So, probably didn’t work as a stunt, but worked as its own product. So we want to invest more in it.
Yeah definitely. Did many other launches where we had 1/100 of this reach. Just keep shipping.
Yeah definitely meant spirited discussion. Not a native speaker.

Totally. It's the first feature we'll work on adding.
That nobody reads what you write.
Jokes asides I am a big fan of blogging[1], but it's not the best medium for reach.

The angle here is not about shutting other people out. It's about carving out the time to think and write, and letting other peoples in at your leisure, maybe once or twice per day.
We do that too. This was initially born as an easy way to cross-post from our markdown blogs to Twitter.
Early morning, after a good night sleep, especially when I have an empty calendar.
In the afternoon I experience the usual energy slump.
