Re:Does Fast Mode Do Anything? on Monday October 12, 2026 @07:00PM (#50064258)
I don't get this website, it is 46% faster? Isn't that faster, sure its not advertised speed, but it _is_ faster?

Outside of central Mumbai, in the suburbs this was still a thing until the 2010s

Can't most agents just self-add their own MCP servers now, would be nice to just have a universal prompt for more complex agents, not everyone just uses claude/codex/pi!
Re:The death of San Francisco's Market Street on Thursday September 03, 2026 @05:13PM (#49557109)
>A lot of that is the Doom Loop — there are simply fewer stores for cyclists to visit on Market Street, so there’s less reason for them to go there. But much of downtown hasn’t collapsed the way Market Street has, and presumably cyclists could use the street as a way to get to places like the Embarcadero, Chinatown, etc. They’re not doing it. Cyclists are a relatively rare sight on Market these days.

I originally thought this post was from 2022, but this guy is just lying. There are plenty of cyclists on market street, so much so that you can probably see a cyclist at any time of the day on that street, even late night (if you count delivery drivers on those "ebikes)). Is it paris level? No, but a rare sight to see is just misleading; especially rush hour, where it's just an army of bikes.

I would have to agree though, Market Street's closure was done half-hearted, no protections were made to make the street nicer, though the real real reason market street is "dead" is there's very few things on that street compared to pre-pandemic, why would pedestrians walk somewhere where most stores are vacant?

Re:Suica, Japan's First IC Transit Card on Thursday August 27, 2026 @12:31PM (#49467472)
Suica is incredible, I remember when I first visited Japan in the 2010’s I was amazed at the speed and ubiquity, now in America that tap to pay on transit terminals are becoming more ubiquitous I feel somewhat disappointed at the “lag” I feel compared to the suica transactions
Re:The entire city of San Francisco as a video game on Monday August 24, 2026 @01:30PM (#49423169)
Kinda funny game, though if you want a bit more fidelity, but less control, Microsoft Flight Simulator has a pretty good version of SF.

Though as for games that use SF (but not 1:1) Watch Dogs 2 is a pretty good proxy, though my favorite video game interpretation of San Francisco is from GTA San Andreas (San Fierro)

Re:World Capitals Voronoi on Wednesday June 10, 2026 @07:22PM (#48484157)
Interesting, if a country has multiple capitals, it gets split even more!
Very cool, I have no idea where any of these guns come from, but I was able to get some points from just looking at the designer name and inferring location from there :)
Interesting app, I have a weird bug I'm seeing with the homepage, when I tab between the chapters, it lags a bit then doesn't actually proceed to the next chapter until I press again
