If you’re in the process of job searching, please mention this option to any company with less than 250 employees that you are in the recruitment process with.
Hoping this is helpful for some of the folks affected: https://www.bridge.legal/resources/free-legal-services-for-l...

We’re building the fastest growing immigration services provider in the US. As part of our team, you’ll collaborate closely with our Product Manager to architect, build, and deploy new services and features. On a day to day basis, you’ll be expected to write clean Ruby and React code and tests. Once you’ve settled in, we’ll look forward to discussing improvements to our existing processes, including our on call rotations, tool usage, and devops practices. As a Senior Full Stack Developer, we’ll expect you to graciously challenge and be challenged by others in a safe and collaborative working environment.

Thanks for bringing us up, Jared! One thing I'd emphasize is that our approach is to use technology to empower lawyers to offer better advice and service, not to replace them. There's a lot in immigration that can be automated, but the difference between a good and a great lawyer is meaningful in many scenarios.
O is definitely a great way to go if you can get it. What is your hesitation to apply?

You also didn't mention how you're here now - are you just on a tourist visa?

Would it be possible to allow custom post paths? I'm looking to move off of posterous and I'd like to preserve the link structure domain.com/title.
When you charge people $.10 for minimal amount of data transfer you should be losing sleep because of the inevitability of your products disruption. When it actually occurs, years after it should have, you will get no sympathy from me.
Will this handle what you're considering? https://github.com/kripken/speak.js Couldn't tell if you wanted something for your pages or something to submit pages to and receive audio...
Re:Why I hate search on Thursday April 05, 2012 @08:29AM (#3802252)
Great article. What really strikes me about this is that we just saw Google's new glass video - a device in which search is primarily implied. Google knows search is dumb and wants to fix it, primarily through external devices (android) that are context aware and have access to incredible amounts of personally relative data. They can't kill their money cow, not directly, and haven't shown us how they'll monetize products without relying on ads, so they'll have to leave search alone, at least for now.

I've been using betterment for (non 401k) index fund exposure. They'll help guide your investment strategy, rebalance between funds automatically and allow you to shift between stocks and bonds (both indexes) as you please.

The question with AAPL is really do you think smartphones and tablets, as product segments unto themselves, have reached market saturation? I think we'll still see massive increases in the sheer number of smartphones and tablets sold, and I think AAPL will manage to retain a significant (not necessarily a majority) market share.
Re:Can you work on two startups at once? on Tuesday March 27, 2012 @10:57PM (#3764516)
It's possible, but I'd avoid it. I bootstrapped a startup while employed at a large (~500 person) company and let the company go in the wrong direction too long because of it. Later I joined a startup where the CEO was still employed at a company he'd founded previously. I don't think either company failed solely because of the other commitments, but we will never know what opportunities were missed because of them.
Re:10 Best Practices of Code Commenting & Formatting on Monday March 26, 2012 @08:41AM (#3756342)
When I worked at Google I was blown away by their attention to readability. It makes sense when they preach that any employee (having passed readability for a given language) can commit code to any project. What surprised me most? Extra spaces. After parens, brackets -- anywhere midline you can. This makes it easier to read any line of code and scan the whole document. Of course, they compile and minimize everything before it runs in production.
Re:Clarification on Jobs' Apple TV UI Rejection on Sunday March 25, 2012 @01:31PM (#3753156)
I woke up today to friends posting on facebook about getting out of Apple stock "at the top" because of these SJ UI rejection posts. Even if the ui is a mistake (and I'm not sure it is, I haven't played with it yet), Apple has made other missteps in the past 5 years without meaningfully impacting the growth in their share price.
Re:The Most Common Way Entrepreneurs Kill Their Business on Monday January 09, 2012 @09:38AM (#3442622)
Another common symptom of this behavior is expanding to multiple customers. As soon as the product/feature you're looking at developing doesn't serve the customer you're currently serving you're losing focus. It's great if you can identify a more profitable customer, but often I see teams chasing many different customers and not executing on serving any one of them especially well. s/customers/jobs a la Christensen and the same holds true.
Re:How to Poach a Startup Employee on Friday September 16, 2011 @04:47PM (#3006244)
Another great idea, which I believe I read about Netflix implementing some time ago, is to always make it a policy to offer everyone the most you can possibly offer them (in terms of complete compensation package) so that when they tell you they have something better you don't get caught up trying to offer them better hours, pay or benefits to get them to stay.
