One day, I hope you reflect on this profoundly malicious epistemology to realize that you were duped like the Germans in the 30s.
Explain how a war between US/Israel and Iran, that Israel started, has nothing to do with Israel?
Re:Claude Account Suspended Seconds After Purchase? on Thursday May 14, 2026 @10:09AM (#48135675)
I'm considering starting my own new thread about this, but I can't even unsubscribe or use my account without doing a Persona ID check -- something I absolutely refuse to do but have no way to opt out of.
Hate to be that guy, but I'm not sure this is an HN worthy article to be honest. It's a listsicle that covers the title for a minority of its points.

Perhaps one could look at this recent Technology Connections video and its accompanying blog for a more insightful look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHP942Livy0

Alternatively, perhaps a direct link to the video from this article is in order?

Re:1000 Blank White Cards on Wednesday January 14, 2026 @10:18AM (#46617001)
Mao took over my summer camp like wildfire in 2005. Fellow councilors and I would often consolidate the rules between camp sessions and we kept running clearing out playing cards from the Kenora grocery store to play on our island. Fond memories. It's definitely one of those games that suites camp life, with the culture of play and hidden rules.
Exactly. Any discussion about US debt as a barrier to economic process when there are so many other avenues for the state to make revenue is either ignorant at best or disingenuous at worst.
Pilot here: even in my small Cessna I will backtrack do you know why? Because it gives me that money more options to work with in case something goes wrong with my take off.
Seconded!

And I say this as a man who thought I didn't need it because I can't get cervical cancer. But it turns out oropharyngeal cancer might be just as preventable with the HPV vaccine.

> My mother was from Utah, and she always lamented at the small size of her flowers growing up in Chicago. They are much larger in Utah because they can get big without insects eating them.

Counter-anecdote from a Utah local: every time we travel to a "wet" area (any travel but Arizona / Nevada) we always find the climate to be more verdant and flowery. Perhaps ecosystems are more multi-faceted in nature.

Counter-counter-anecdote: Our Roses love the weather here.

Nope, the bill as written prevents local municipalities from making that decision.

Very cool! I asked about something similar in 2010 on HN: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=1396876

Funny to see how the comments haven't shifted (and have!) in the past 15 years.

Hi Tom!

I went to school with Tom. He's one of the first legit nerds I ever hung out with. Glad to see his business featured on HN!

I highly recommend onshape these days if you're ok with a web app that makes all your design open source (the pay for private space model has a steep cliff, but for my hobby purposes and open source enthusiasm it's great).

I've lately been dabbling with feature script and making model configurations (eg a model size or appearance variant) for some CNC work. Here's a CNC laser module I modelled with onshape: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/2d5e7a41d9b0da06350348dc/w...

Re:KidPix on Wednesday June 19, 2024 @10:24PM (#40734297)
So, sometimes software gets these things called "iterations" and "versions" where the authors of the software add features and updates. So while this link isn't the KidPix of the 90s, it certainly has the same gameplay to the point where Im personally transported back to playing this on my Dad's Mactinosh 30ish years ago.

Perhaps you can try downloading it and seeing for yourself?

You're in luck! I my kiddo loves the kidpix iPad app and it's just a single purchase.

Re:Tailwind Color Palette Generator on Friday February 02, 2024 @11:18AM (#39230397)
These are great! Here are my personal curations / additions of go-to color links (general color theory stuff):

- https://paletton.com/ palettes with color theory and can generate the entire scheme.

- https://medialab.github.io/iwanthue/ I want hue, uses k-means to separate out colors, great for graphs and getting contrast on those.

I've been doing web dev for as long as Django has been a "thing" (2009). I love build APIs and leading people, I'm also not afraid to get into legacy apps to make them better. I can legally work in the USA or Canada with no issue. Seeking a full time or contract-to-hire position. Hope you're having a lovely Monday!

Find and depress the red "button" at the bottom of any smbc comic for a lovely Easter egg.
> Another alternative I’m considering is learning HVAC repair as a fallback career.

Why not both? My neighbor configures HVAC for datacenters as a living. From what I've understood in our chats, there's a lot of expert system processing going on. It's only going to grow as ML/AI does. When there's gold rush, don't invest in gold, invest in pickaxes.

If you haven't had the pleasure: https://www.incredibox.com/demo/ may be the band/demo/dynamic music you are pursuing? But much agreed, I think we're at the forefront of exciting new mediums in the audio space.
Wait... is this the same Prager-prefix as the PragerU folks?

My goodness this stupidity is a conglomerate industry if so.

Re:Ask HN: Who is hiring? (December 2021) on Wednesday December 01, 2021 @11:46AM (#29405805)
Invitae | Senior / Principal Engineer: Django / Python, or anything biotech | REMOTE / Optional travel to SF / CO (USA) labs | https://www.invitae.com/en/careers/

[ Funny enough, I was hired via one of these kind of HN posts a couple years ago and am honored to return the favor :) ]

Invitae ($NVTA) is a genetics company in the biotech space with a focus on medical diagnostics & genetic counseling.

As a software dev, this means that a lot of our work is building bespoke software for in-house scientist clients. There is a strong focus on patients & employees, and we have a lot of flexibility in accommodating software engineers as a result.

I would have agreed with you if it weren't for the recent cases of ransomware attacks on hospitals https://cyber.forum.yale.edu/blog/2021/7/20/attributing-deat...

The anti-yakuza strategy suggested here probably wouldn't fit as a solution for attacking ransomware.

Re:Notion Acquires Automate.io on Wednesday September 08, 2021 @03:24PM (#28461844)
Seconded with respect to Joplin. It's the only solution I've found which lets me sync iPad notes & photos & videos to my linux boxes & android. Perfect for dumping screenshots and adding context to them and for copying pages down for later reading / annotation. Oh and it's all E2E encrypted through dropbox (I want to get it on a personal cloud soon too, but alas the chefs never cook themselves gourmet food). The only "missing feature" is the lack of an in-built ability to "share" but as a personal journal I think it's perfect.
Re:Why do interviewers ask linked list questions? on Monday March 29, 2021 @01:38PM (#26625404)
I've been doing python for 14+ years now. Never been asked about linked-lists, but was asked about prototypical inheritance in javascript (didn't get that job -- in retrospect, very glad i didn't). Now that I'm on the other side of the interviewing table, i always start off by saying "I think coding interviews are stressful as heck, so you should know that what I'm looking for isn't the "right" answer, it's that we both learn something. You can google your way to the right result, but it takes much more skill to implement in a team." Basically I try to turn interviews into a learning experience. With that lens, I tend to have a much better appreciation about a candidate than forcing them to pick up a marker and write a loop on a whiteboard.

Aside: Linked lists in python have a built-in deque: https://docs.python.org/3.7/library/collections.html#collect...

(I still had to google that one)
