Re:Cloudflare Global Network experiencing issues on Tuesday November 18, 2025 @08:13AM (#45965310)
Definitely. Tangentially, I encountered 504 Gateway Timeout errors on cloudflarestatus.com about an hour ago. The error page also disclosed the fact that it's powered by CloudFront (Amazon's CDN).
Re:The masters of Commodore 64 games on Thursday March 13, 2025 @11:31AM (#43354336)
For anyone else feeling a good hit of nostalgia, I highly recommend this excellent site with C64 games playable in the browser - and with netplay too! https://c64.krissz.hu/online-playable-games/
Quaternius[0] and Kenney[1] also has lovely low-poly 3D models, all under CC0.

Re:Show HN: Pages CMS – A CMS for GitHub on Thursday February 22, 2024 @11:22AM (#39469360)
Very nice! It looks a bit like Publii [0], but the editor part is cloud hosted instead of running as an app on your machine.

GLtron maybe? We had a blast playing it with friends in the early 2000s. Splitscreen 4-player mayhem!
Re:Construct in 2023: Year in Review on Tuesday December 19, 2023 @10:39AM (#38696935)
Construct is super intuitive, especially if you've ever spent time in Klik'n'Play / The Games Factory / Multimedia Fusion. And if you're not the fan of no-code / event-driven visual programming, Construct has very good Javascript / Typescript support now.
Re:Karma Firewall: FOSS application firewall for Android on Wednesday June 07, 2023 @02:21PM (#36231063)
Requires no Internet permission, works by running as a local VPN service, can block Internet access of any Android app (including system apps).

Karma Firewall can be installed from F-Droid (it's not on Google Play): https://f-droid.org/packages/net.stargw.fok/

Micro Men (2009) with Martin Freeman and Alexander Armstrong is kinda like its British counterpart, I always watch those two in tandem.
Re:Suspicious iOS KeePass Client on Sunday May 21, 2023 @09:38AM (#36020728)
I'd stay away from any KeePass clients with network access. I don't have a recommendation for iOS, but for Android KeePassDX [0] seems like a good option as it has no network permission to begin with.

Re:I Still Use Windows 95 (archived, 2008) on Wednesday May 17, 2023 @12:53PM (#35978051)
Horrifying. That's exactly why simplewall [0] is among the first programs I install on Windows. Then I block stuff like compattelrunner.exe, devicecensus.exe, explorer.exe, the various Intel / Nvidia driver-related bullshit background processes the first time they attempt to connect to a remote server.

Re:OpenSnitch in Debian ready for prime time on Sunday May 14, 2023 @08:08AM (#35937381)
As a huge fan of simplewall [0] by Henry++ on Windows, I'm looking forward to testing OpenSnitch on Debian, it looks like it could be the former's counterpart.

Re:How to Make Good Small Games on Wednesday April 19, 2023 @02:40PM (#35631752)
This. The best thing about game jams is that you'll better at the next one. You'll learn to focus, not to overshoot the scope, manage your time better and do quick iterations. I've done a few on Itch and the community is really friendly, which provides enough drive for me to submit before the deadline even if the result is quite wonky. If you rate other people's games, they'll probably rate you back, which is great.

One particular game jam I recommend is Trijam [1]. It takes place every weekend, has a fixed theme and ideally you should only spend a total of 3 hours on a game which forces you to do something relatively simple.

Or another AI could just do that.

I've been using DeskPins for "always on top" since I've known about its existence.
Re:SweetAlert2 NPM package plays Ukrainian anthem on Russian pages on Wednesday November 16, 2022 @07:43AM (#33622118)
A quite popular WordPress caching plugin (Super Page Cache for Cloudflare) included this library and just released an update which reverts to an older version of SweetAlert2 which does not include the protestware code.

https://wordpress.org/support/topic/sites-infected-after-upd...

I love this! Skimming the about page is enough to grasp the main mechanic and it's very intuitive after that too. The pointer-free navigation is awesome!

One tiny thing I've noticed in the first minute is that using shortcuts like Ctrl+A or Ctrl+Shift+Home (in Firefox/Windows anyways) selects stuff outside of the current "label" which feels a bit off. I use these shortcuts to quickly select a bunch of text and start typing to replace it with something else.

What are your plans in terms of data portability / syncing?

Check out Space Hawk (2000), Gravity Force, AUTS and V-Wing.
Jitsi Meet [1] has voice and video chat, screen sharing and speaker stats (showing speaker time) out of the box.

Sounds like a Black Mirror episode.
