Show HN: Readeck sync for Kobo's stock reader

https://github.com/fkaduk/kobodeck

Hi all,I switched from wallabag to readeck and was missing a way to sync articles to my kobo device, which was previously done by wallabako[1].I forked that project, discarded some features (support for KOReader/Plato, on-screen progress etc.), extended testing and documentation to end up with Kobodeck, which after some months of use feels stable enough to share. This could be useful for people...

Re:Ah, the Codeberg Drama on Friday July 24, 2026 @09:49AM (#49035604)
Time will tell whether Codeberg's approach of Valetudo-like community-building will work out.
Thats the question, right? And thats exactly the point.

It is about weighing the real cost of trillions of replicated license sections against some theoretical/imaginary risk of someone being successful in court with this.

that make sense to me, but has this ever happened? has anyone ever downloaded some (in some way broken) software by an unpaid open source developer and then tried to sue that person?

it sounds mind-boggling to me that this would actually be possible, so I wonder if this was ever tried.

“To arrive at a just estimate of a renowned man’s character one must judge it by the standards of his time, not ours.”
Some of my early research (elementary school) suggested that certain glues can form a peelable, skin-like layer. Maybe that could be a promising way forward?

Could be, i understood it differently

Do you? Even if its a technical blog post and you learn incorrect things from it?

Re:Richard Dawkins and the Claude Delusion on Tuesday May 05, 2026 @11:15AM (#48023674)
Dawkins takes a functionalist position, which is the dominant perspective in biological research.

The author makes it easy for himself by degrading the philosophical/scientific discussion into a political rant.

You can't unsubscribe from this because it is not a normal service, but a racket. By definition: a service that creates its own demand.

I advise having a read through Sapolskys book "Determined" to get another perspective
What would "abuse" of an LLM look like? Saying something mean to it? Shutting it off?

Seeing a borderline hustle culture article illustrated with AI slop in the style of Bill Watterson, who famously opposed commercial exploitation of his work, is deeply saddening.
Is this some sort of joke/reference I'm not getting?
> im lucky i've made pro Trump comments

Once implemented, such regulation will stay even if trump leaves. When the democrats take over again, this will be used against you.

I agree that they will never get the gold back, but is it really more likely that the US hands over that sum in cash?

Maybe not the answer you are looking for, but rumor has it that engineers at VW were well aware of points like those you raise. However the CEO at that time, Herbert Diess, outspoken admirer of Musk/Tesla, pushed for touch interfaces anyways.
Interesting thought. In the end, this is an ethical question: How much pressure is justified to put on the general population for supporting their leaders?

My feeling is that your perspective, likely shared by people like Bomber Harris or Netanyahu, does not match most peoples intuition nowadays.

Re:Kidnapped by Deutsche Bahn on Monday December 29, 2025 @07:53AM (#46420164)
historically german railway had a track record of treating people like cattle, but one would expect that not even institutional culture changes would take that long

Maybe the authors are overly careful. Maybe avoiding to publish aspects of their work gives an edge over academic competitors. Maybe both.

In my experience "data available upon request" doesn't always mean what you'd think it does.

Including women would have been a legal nonstarter.

The german constitution restricts drafting to men[0] and would have to be changed before such a law could even be considered.

Before you ask, yes, the constitution also says that men and women need to be treated equally[1]

im not convinced that real estate will profit from the upcoming economic downturn. There's a reason people call it the "everything bubble"

I have seen dozens of hours spent on debugging issues associated with this switch. One has to wonder how much manpower went into it globally.

Is there some quantitative evidence that this made the world a better place?
