Also note that their response is the exact length of the shortest allowed one, and yet still wrong.
It totally did work! I updated the apps and the docs (and the blog post) to reflect this. It is pretty self-involved and requires an active Apple Developer subscription – but it does get everything running without disabling SIP.

Thanks again for the tip ;).

Didn't know about this, thank you. I'll look into it.
I’ll take the « OVERWHELMINGLY » as a compliment, I guess ;).
That’s exactly what I figured. Even though I feel it should have been Drobo’s responsibility to at least provide a detailed doc before going under.

They must have sold quite a few of these units, and I figure I’m one of the few (saw someone on Reddit reacting to a post to this with their own vibe-coded dashboard – which of course looks eerily similar) customers that went through such lengths to give their device a few more years. Providing an « official » open-source driver might have prevented some more e-wase – and token use!

Re:That time when I failed the Microsoft interview on Tuesday August 04, 2026 @07:00AM (#49166870)
That’s exactly the path I would have gone, ask clarifying question to confuse the interviewers: - Is my boat actually floating in the lake? - Is the lake filled with water? - If yes, what is the temperature gradient of that water from top to bottom? - How deep is the lake at the spot the ball is dropped? - What is the current time and phase of the moon, and what are the exact coordinates of the ball drop? - Are we doing this during some « end of the world gravitational collapse » event?

This would show them three things (which they did were not trying to find out, or maybe): 1. I think these questions are stupid. 2. I know that clear requirements and edge-cases are important 3. I’m an asshole and possibly not fun at parties

Just be careful not to step on it!
Isn’t the point of an API to have two computers talk to each other? As in “if I want safeguards for humans, it would be my responsability to put them BEFORE calling that API”?

Erf, I do hope they add support soon !
I think this is very dangerous perspective. A lot of attacks on infra are automated, just try to expose a Windows XP machine to the internet for a day and see with how much malware you end up with. If you leave your security unchecked, you will end up attacked; not by someone targeting you specifically, but having all your data encrypted for ransom might still create a problem for you (even if the attacker doesn’t care about YOUR data specifically).

Re:New Pebble Device on Tuesday December 09, 2025 @10:29AM (#46205972)
More like buying a 99$ “12 to 15 hour recording” pack. Also created real tangible waste, I’m failing to see how recycling a bunch (what are they expecting to sell, hundreds-of-thousands order of magnitude?) of 99$ rings after two years will be worth it (how much material, and for what worth, can they really exctract?).
Re:Print GitHub Repositories as Books on Sunday September 07, 2025 @05:25PM (#45162308)
Is it just my (iOS) device or are the chapters/tables just split randomly across pages?
Re:Copyparty, turn almost any device into a file server on Monday July 28, 2025 @12:51PM (#44712688)
The guy in the video sounded very Norwegian to me.

Plus it’s fully auditable.

Which is also (arguably not easily) doable IRL. The most realistic part of it surely being the pacing and “tactical” aspects of it.
Operation Flashpoint having also been spun off into “VBS” (Virtual Battlespace Systems) a military combat simulator whose first client/user was incedentally the USMC. So AA’s was probably arguably the first mainstream (from the heavy promotion and the fact it was free, something out of the ordinary for an “AAA Game” at the time) “realistic shooter”, but certainly not the first.

Same here, too bad — it does look interesting!

I wouldn’t say that there is no competition in the army, in fact some selection processes (special forces, who gets up the ladder and earns a seat on the general staff or a star) are probably more competitive than in civilian life. It’s probably more about the general mindset: those extreme situation (and I am not necessarily talking about the competitive ones) create that positive feedback loop though shared hardships and closeness, and probably outweigh that competitiveness.
Not if you start counting at zero!
I guess that’s just the price of good software..

On Switzerland’s “leading” (in terms of pricing, and not in the good way) ISP’s own website nonetheless. So it is either incompetence or they think people are idiots.. or maybe just a healthy mix of both!
That’s good to know! I’m guessing some hospitals are too stingy to pay for that feature then..
That’s correct. And I still baffles me that no substantial improvements have been made in that problem space. My grocery shop has a LLM powered Robo-assistant, and doctors are still copy-pasting (or even worse, re-inputting them by hand) text between various pieces of software on a daily basis.

I understand regulation plays a good role in that, but I can’t believe that it is the only reason..
