I think it's time for a big move towards immutable databases that weren't even mentioned in this article. I've already worked with Datomic and immudb: Datomic is very good, but extremely complex and exotic, difficult learning curve to achieve perfect tuning. immudb is definitely not ready for production and starts having problems with mere hundreds of thousands of records. There's nothing too serious yet.
Re:The PGP Problem (2019) on Friday January 02, 2026 @08:14PM (#46471690)
Even though I read so many posts criticizing PGP, it's still difficult for me to find an alternative. He states in the article that being a "Swiss Army Knife" is bad. I understand the argument, but this is precisely what makes GPG so powerful. The scheme of public keys, private keys, revoke, embedded WOT, files, texts, everything. They urgently need to make a "modern version" of GPG. He needs a replacement, otherwise he'll just be whining.

Nice idea.
Here’s a great idea for a good opportunist:

A “Confessions of a Software Developer” website where devs can come in and make anonymous confessions.

[REMOTE] Expert Software Architect (Core & Reliability)

At Eulen Labs, we build products for the sovereign individual, with a focus on security, privacy, and technical excellence. We are looking for a battle-tested, hands-on architect to become the guardian of our core production systems.

The Role

This is a deeply technical, hands-on position for a master craftsperson who prefers architecting and shipping brilliant code to attending meetings. As the technical owner of our high-volume core services, you will be the gatekeeper of quality, the champion of reliability, and the calm voice of reason during a crisis. Your mission: to ensure our systems run with unwavering stability and speed, enabling us to deploy frequently and safely.

Who We're Looking For

We are seeking an expert with 15+ years of software engineering experience in critical, high-volume environments. You are a pragmatist who lives and breathes automated testing, resilient architecture, and the relentless pursuit of improvement. You have a history of leading incident responses and a passion for mentoring others through exemplary code and rigorous reviews.

Ask HN: Where are Reddit users migrating amidst the API fee controversy?

It seems like drama has struck the Reddit community once again, this time involving the introduction of API fees. With these changes causing quite a stir, I'm curious to know where most Reddit users are migrating. Are they flocking to alternative platforms within the Nostr network or exploring other options outside of it?

How did you manage to obtain Steve Jobs' real email? That seems to be the case. Whether it involved stealing the password, hijacking the domain, or something similar, the fact remains that he sent it from the real email.
