Re:LiberNT - A free NT operating system

The developer of LiberNT worked with ReactOS and he managed to contribute a lot. But regarding AI governance on the project, there were conflicts between the developer and the community. This caused the separate fork we have seen called LiberNT.
It's not inferred from the work but through weeks of communication. The only evidence would be the chat history of ReactOS Mattermost.

At least the developer of LiberNT has sufficient knowledge to work with AI tools and he can review low level code. In many other forks, it's common to see people as mere meat proxies.

There's an experiment to create an LLVM-based Native AOT tool chain. I sincerely hope they work on this properly, so that we can have a properly optimized AOT. But I'm not sure if it will end up with less quirks.

Mostly yes. Digital signatures are better than wet signatures in almost every aspects. I've lived in Turkey, where the e-signatures are mostly limited to govt institutions, and Estonia, where the e-signatures are everywhere for everyone. Maybe moving to the digital certificates are a prerequisite of independence from Office tools.

Most of the govt stuff is paperwork moved to "digital" paperwork using office. I sincerely hope to see a post with a title "X govt drops using any office program at all". Most of these stuff can be just CRUD apps on approval workflows with built-in digital signatures. Govt officers would not need more than browsers for majority of these daily tasks.

This is not only a marketing stunt but also a supportive argument on the AI anthromorphism. AI is getting considered a sentient-being by many and this narrative is supporting it. In the meanwhile, companies I'd not name here are trying to introduce them as non-human beings with identities, and getting rid of legal liabilities. When a driverless car causes any harm, these companies wants 0% accountability as it is the "driver's fault" in this narrative.

What's funny to me is that Scot Hanselman, an MS employee, wrote about it for a - not so- long time ago as well:
- https://www.hanselman.com/blog/dont-ever-break-a-url-if-you-...
There are people in MS who knows this is an issue. But knowledge is not equal to behaviour.

So, there's still room for significant improvement.

Would SearchValues<char> help there for a fallback to a SIMD optimized simple string literal search rather than the happy path?

You got me at TalTech. Great job and the paper is high quality. I'll have to learn F# but I believe it is worth it.

I only made two plugins. I have two half baked ones in the making. Both Shreyas and me have day jobs and this is a side quest. Overall, my contributions are about 1% of all the code, so I accept the 1% of the thanks. Kudos to Shreyas.

I am fan of Technitium, because I like to build and I built two plugins for it to fit my use case. But at work, we use Windows DNS and Bind in parallel. So, this is also a hobby of mine. The hook for me is that it is built with dotnet, and I have experience in that stack. Other features are secondary actually.
I am curious though, what would TDNS do so that you can replace BIND with TDNS in your homelab/workplace or wherever it is used? I genuinely ask for it so that I can help the original developer with some PRs.

The only problem there is for GDPR consent thingy. You can disable and proceed. I don't use any telemetry except for the consent banners.
When it comes to Technitium, well, it's written in the blog.
