Re:Docker Is Weird on Friday October 23, 2026 @03:34AM (#50205607)
I have recently discovered INCUS, very nice alternative to docker when a simple container is not sufficient https://linuxcontainers.org/incus/
The highest problem is the office suite. If you think Libreoffice/Collabora can replace Microsoft 365 without friction the project could be a success. Honestly I do not think so as of today.
Re:Cherenkov Radiation - traveling faster than light on Friday September 11, 2026 @05:40AM (#49655718)
To be precise, what we call the “speed of light” is the limiting speed at which information and causal effects can propagate through spacetime. In vacuum, it coincides with the propagation speed of photons, i.e. of light. In other media or under certain conditions, however, light can propagate at a speed lower than , without changing the fundamental limit imposed by relativity. So "speed of light" used to denote is a bit misleading

Re:The Military Failures of Fascism on Thursday March 26, 2026 @04:05AM (#47527802)
According to the dictionary definition of fascism (https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/fascism), Stalin's Russia was also "fascist", and won many wars, invading and occupying free democracies (Poland) for years.

Re:Show HN: WeUseElixir - Elixir project directory on Saturday September 20, 2025 @02:44AM (#45311033)
I never used Erlang, and I'm a functional programming fan. But languages based on heavy VM that abstract OS away always make me doubt that's the right direction.
I never realized how much solar radiation can be dangerous until I read Andy Weir's Hail Mary.
How does this compare to microrepair? https://www.nature.com/articles/vital695
