Jukely (https://www.jukely.com/) does another good version of this. Here's their playlist for NYC https://open.spotify.com/user/jukely/playlist/6d8T2n9ISP4ZgH... (other cities are avail too).

I definitely miss the very old version of the app too. That one was written by the uTorrent creators - it was incredibly fast, felt great.
Maybe rename topic, but also lets think of happier days in 2011: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=2154706 :P
Looking forward to some Lodsys or Intellectual Ventures pieces, patents are great
I, for one, have enjoyed seeing this piece of content marketing on top of HN, and will be buying this company's products and services. Good to see something other than the Macro up here.
Re:Why Stack Overflow Doesn’t Care About Ad Blockers on Tuesday February 09, 2016 @03:18PM (#11068429)
I thought the actual reason they don't care is that the Careers program brings in much more revenue?

I love that 2016 is when many notable SV people finally got excited about Snapchat

Had to read like 3x to realize it wasn't Marco's new project
Re:Plug – Native OS X client for Hype Machine on Monday June 30, 2014 @10:13PM (#7968845)
Anthony, founder of Hype Machine here.

We used to have the Now Playing Last.fm support, but took it out as Last.fm faded from the spotlight a few years ago.

It's still one of my favorite services (scrobbling is life-changing) though, but we aren't even sure if it's worth the overhead to keep the Now Playing support active (requires more resources).

Re:How to randomize your MAC address on OS X on Tuesday June 10, 2014 @11:46AM (#7873208)
Does this even work on the wireless interface on a mbp? The driver used to prevent you from setting the MAC addr to anything you wanted, vs the ethernet driver for the wired interface that lets you play with it freely.

Yeah, it was really interesting to hear a more seasoned perspective, other than "whoa asia is awesome if you go for a bit".
The outcry! The injustice! Sigh

The favorites are not capped, only the plays are.
If you want the timeline, just https://api.vineapp.com/timelines/global (you must have an authenticated vine-session-id cookie, of course)
Re:Show HN: Hype Machine - 5+ years of Internet music history on Saturday January 26, 2013 @12:19AM (#5119353)
We only store about 1000 of your most recent plays, so you should also use Last.fm (and connect Hype Machine to it)!

I guess people can get RSS from the feed Hype Machine generates, if they really want it: http://hypem.com/feed/blog/10471/1/feed.xml

The memories that the older Popular pages bring up was a big motivation to build this. Like the month where MGMT was all over the popular chart: http://hypem.com/popular/week:Apr-07-2008 (and the adjacent weeks)
Re:Show HN: Hype Machine - 5+ years of Internet music history on Friday January 25, 2013 @06:52PM (#5118487)
Why did you choose to build from scratch vs wordpress/squarespace/etc? This is neat

Re:Tunes.io - simple, awesome daily playlist of new indie tracks on Monday September 10, 2012 @10:57AM (#4500120)
Sure, but how is the music picked?

Attribution is not a distraction.

Re:Tunes.io - simple, awesome daily playlist of new indie tracks on Sunday September 09, 2012 @08:33PM (#4497669)
On what basis is something "awesome"?

Are the tracks handpicked? If not, what is the overall method?

Why is there no attribution if the tracks are clearly from websites that have recommended the music?
