Do you even know that they track your gait? and face? wherever you go?

(of course they don't even need to since you carry a tracking device in your pocket)

I try to avoid Apple devices because of the artificial restrictions ... it almost feels like a mobile OS (which also has lots of artificial restrictions)
I wonder what hardware can handle that bandwidth
Re:Ask HN: Is Bootstrap still used in new projects? on Sunday March 19, 2023 @03:17PM (#35222450)
Why fix what's not broken?
The hard part (expensive part) is to put it into orbit...
I have the correct password and google ask me to "get my" to verify that it is me... If I click Try Another Way, I find out that it meant Get My Phone... But Google isn't in the settings because I use LineageOS.

Is it possible to disable that extra "safety" for my Google account? i.e.: I don't want to have to verify because I use a different computer to login.

Where can someone buy it in the US?
I thought that AMP was finally a thing of the past...

You should try asking that question to ChatGPT

God awful results when compared to what other search engine? Certainly not Google...
Re:The FBI Just Admitted It Bought US Location Data on Thursday March 09, 2023 @12:58AM (#35078668)
Instead of doing it, the government should create laws to make it illegal (exactly what is up for debate)

Its OK, nobody cares... /s?
Privacy will more than likely be totally gone around that time.
Do they account for inflation?
Any country isn't heading this way?
I thought that corn-based ethanol exists solely for the purpose of taking advantages of government subversives and had nothing to do with climate or the environment...
Re:Ask Dang: What tools do you use for moderating HN? on Friday February 24, 2023 @02:06PM (#34928524)
if nobody can see their comments anyways whats the point to not let them wast their time and post in the abyss?
Re:Ask Dang: What tools do you use for moderating HN? on Friday February 24, 2023 @12:51AM (#34921332)
I have noticed many of those too.

> their posts are rate limited

I don't like this one... if your comments are shadow banned or automatically hidden.. what's the point...

There's also a lot of editing going on, but most of the time, they let you know what was edited, which is nice, thanks.

When a "veteran" user flags a post, it apparently also gets a LOT of weight from what I heard... It might be why in some cases a post with a lot of momentum quickly falls off from the front page. There's probably other reasons too.

I know that if a user has multiple accounts, they also somehow connect them together to the same person (not sure if it is automatic). They connected multiple of my account but not all... Dang confirmed it (I try to increase privacy by switching account once in a while)

When you get 500 karma, you can down-vote...

Nice list.

I also like Awesome RSS to bring back Firefox's RSS feed finder, Old Reddit Reddirect (brings back old reddit), Search By Image, Theater Mode For Youtube, User-Agent Switcher, Youtube-shorts Blocker (you can still view them, but the layout is the same as a normal video), View Image Context Menu, Smart Referer (adds a bit of privacy)

It could also be used to track bad cop activities
It could also be used to tack bas cops
> Kind of genius, as it doesn't matter what the user is

It's a good way to avoid tracking of your meta data too for legitimate encrypted messages.

Maybe AI will be what will save US from copyright...
