Re:Color Formats in CSS on Friday December 30, 2022 @10:04AM (#34185640)
The reason “darkgrey” is lighter is because “darkgrey” is a predefined color keyword in CSS that corresponds to a medium-dark shade of gray, while “grey” is a lighter shade of gray.

The predefined color keywords in CSS are based on the sRGB color space, which is a standardized color model used to represent colors on screens. The sRGB color space defines a range of colors that can be represented using a combination of red, green, and blue values. Each color keyword is associated with a specific set of red, green, and blue values, which determine its appearance.

In the case of “darkgrey”, the red, green, and blue values are all set to a medium-dark level, resulting in a color that is slightly darker than the color “grey”, but not as dark as the color “darkslategrey”.

A similar service is Pushover. They have an e-mail gateway that allows you to send e-mails to your custom Pushover e-mail address and have it be converted into Pushover notifications. Each user has a @pomail.net address assigned when their account is created, and additional addresses can be created with custom options for each one such as a default sound. Highly recommend it.
Re:Google SMS search has been shut down on Sunday May 12, 2013 @03:40PM (#5695548)
If there really is a market for this, it shouldn't be too hard to recreate with the help of twilio and google APIs. The problem is getting paid, maybe you could charge a monthly fee or the users could agree to receive 1 ad for every X searches?

Proper access control on your web site.
Re:PushingBox - Notifications in the cloud on Thursday May 24, 2012 @04:14AM (#4017383)
An example on how to use this service is here: http://makeprojects.com/Project/Notifying-Doorbell/2165/

That project will help you to hack your doorbell to send Push notification to your iOS-device and an email with an attached picture when somebody's at the door.

You mean like this CSS-implementation of Rule 110? http://eli.fox-epste.in/rule110-full.html
The statement (from 2008) has since been redacted by Adam.

Re:AWS Free Usage Tier now Includes Microsoft Windows on EC2 on Monday January 16, 2012 @04:14AM (#3469988)
The free tier is only for new customers. If you've been using AWS for years, you will not get this offer to test a Windows-server in the cloud.
Re:Who's your SSH buddy? on Monday July 25, 2011 @06:26AM (#2802058)
My SSH buddy is iSSH from the App Store. Always available when I need him.
Regarding #2: I´ve created a proof of concept in C# on how you can create this app yourself. Feel free to try it out: https://github.com/esp0/googleAuthNet
Re:How To Safely Store A Password on Friday July 01, 2011 @03:42AM (#2717417)
If you are doing this, then the hash IS the password. That means if someone steals your database, the could log in as all of your users just by tweaking the client-side JavaScript with grease-monkey or similar.
Re:Should I Change My Password? on Friday June 24, 2011 @03:43AM (#2691396)
That's because you're supposed to enter an email-address, not a password.

Re:100 Oldest .Com Domains on Monday June 20, 2011 @12:40AM (#2672900)
.arpa still exists and is used exclusively for technical infrastructure purposes. While the name originally was the acronym for the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA), it now stands for Address and Routing Parameter Area.

arpa contains also the domains for reverse domain name resolution in-addr.arpa and ip6.arpa for IPv4 and IPv6, respectively.

For details, see section 3.5 in RFC 1035 (http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc1035.txt)
