Re:The Business of Saving the World on Thursday July 10, 2008 @07:59PM (#243060)
I read this article long time back. Amazing read! Shows how important having good (read genuine) set of core values are and how important the "Do Good" principle is in today's world.

The problem in today's world is the menace of ego, actions and decisions coming from ego-driven values. PG talked about "Doing good", but where does one draw the line between good and bad? As long as the ego controlled mind exists and controls all our actions and decisions, the "Doing good" principle will be merely reduced to just another mechanism for satisfying the ego's ulterior motives.

I might be sounding a bit idealistic here, but what do you guys think?

Ask YC: What do you think of niche social networks?

a. What do you guys think of niche social networks?b. What about a niche social network as the only feature of a site?c. What about a niche social network as one of the features among a host of different features on a site?d. Is there any stigma associated with the words "social network" in the VC / Angel community, now that there are thousands of these popping up each day?

Is http://nycs.bigheadlabs.com/ the only way to access those posts that are not linked anymore?

You must have an API that gets you access to these unlinked posts, correct?

Makes perfect sense for a 2-3 member startup, where all the founders wear multiple hats and structuring the different efforts seems like an important undertaking.

When is the latest that a startup needs to think about the executive management? When does one decide on who the CEO should be? And what is the best way to go about it? Thanks!
