Is there a way to not have someone inspect me uttering profanities under my nose in the cloud? I.e., can I self host the inference?
Not to defend Canonical, but you can mitigate this bug by dropping any and all packets with TCP options in the headers.
Having to swap stacks has not much to do with GC.
In this case, I feel like people are commenting for the sake of expressing their opinion, without much regard if it is materially contributing to the topic at hand. And now, neither am I. :(
Radiation damage causes the replication error.
I love how it takes 2 comments to go from *Writing safe/good C code is really hard* to *Sometimes shitty code is good, actually*. In the context of using fuzzers to find bugs in existing code.
There is no fluke. If it crashes, that's a signal. It might not be a serious bug, but a bug all the same.
This was never an issue with my Pixel. Using my pixel with graphene without google play services resulted in better battery life than stock.
Go makes signal handling harder. Further, there is no FFI call overhead in Rust, C++, Swift. It isn’t marshalling, a function with no args will still incur an overhead.
The whole point of signal is that they cannot provide you with your data - they do not store it.
Further, I have been frustrated with similar design decisions with Signal - but how can they ensure you can export your messages without allowing letter agencies to do the same? Falling back on platform security guarantees is a rather good choice in terms of the economics - Signal need not gatekeep access to their private data - it is android and iOS that do the heavy lifting there. I’d love to move my messages between devices and sims - but I understand why that is not feasible for now.
Calling C functions is not free, compilation becomes a lot more difficult, Go tooling is not as helpful. Signal handling is still a mess. It works in the happy path where the FFI is not on the hot path.
Go really sucks at calling into C code.
Not sure about iPads, but going from a pixel 3 to a pixel 5 made me feel like my pixel 3 was broken. Xr to 16 pro was similar, but that is because Xr was legit broken.
Would a Trump puppet not also be anti-NATO and pro-Putin?
Postmarket is very much not like any other aosp derivative.
Swift gas a facility for this type of thing, Rust could adopt it too.
I guess I should update my nextcloud.
No, scratch that. I should replace it with something that is not a trash fire.
Be a tech maximalist- use tech and will power to pull ahead with green energy. Go hard on batteries and energy storage. I do not even care that I may sound delusional - the contrary doomer viewpoint is deluded in a far worse manner. The things we need either are or are not within our abilities- you will never know unless you try. Resigning with *it’s too hard* ensures we will know that we cannot.
Don’t apologize for x, just don’t post x links.
Or use fido/gpg in a yubikey - the user gets to authenticate the use of the secret, but it never leaves the hardware token, let alone the client computer.
Zero hardware changes forced springboard teams hand here.
Given their scraper behaviour, it almost feels like they do not have a corpus in-house, they just read the web on demand during training.
Regularly bugs reported during a beta do not get fixed until the next major release. If they do not, they will be closes as wontfix because they were fine to exist a whole major version.
My macbook has been kernel panicking during every sleep.
> You’d use it to tell the world that you didn’t care if most of the internet didn’t work for you, as longs as you where “sticking it to the man”.
This is eerily similar to how I feel about using Firefox today. Not that I am sticking it to the man - I just want there to be diversity in the market and not have every viable option be a way for a megacorp to have presence on my computers.
Long range mesh on planes? Otherwise, it's pretty difficult to setup base stations in your enemies territory.
I can, but there often enough changes I need that are easier edited by hand. Not that the skill is in applying a diff from brain to file - the skill I'm paid for is identifying that such a change is required in the first place.
I agree - let's wait and see. I think the outcome of prompting a model will vary wildly depending on who is doing the prompting. Natural language can only get you so far. And if I'm wrong - oh well, I guess I'll need to uproot my life.
I think this lands in the same area as flying jet liners. A computer can do it. But legally it seems easier if there's a human responsible for the operation of the aircraft. I've conjured my ideas into code via LLM, and it is magical. But the quality is also off, and there are nontrivial issues that I'd like to address. The more a software project is vibed, the less one can manually address things.
Often, the agent will fix a problem without assessing if the fix is worth it, optimal or defective. It's fine to merge fixes like this in codebases occasionally - humans have been managing to do this and to work around this for ages. I'd like to see a software project that is purely LLM driven and doesn't devolve into chaos because of this.
I'd much rather push for a world where we use a reasonable DNS/mDNS implementation on Linux rather than add to the zoo of bespoke variants. I have written code that tries to appease different DNS managers across different versions of them for different distros. We need to stop. Everyone believes that the common way of handling DNS is insane, so they create their own new way of doing it.
