I wrote this Deno script to convert the Pocket CSV export to a Bookmark HTML-file so that it can be imported to Linkding: https://github.com/enjikaka/pocket-to-bookmark

Dang, like many others I use Pocket extensively - especially with my Kobo e-reader. This is very sad!

I wrote this Deno script to convert the CSV export to a Netscape Bookmark File Format-compatible HTML-file so that it can be imported to Linkding. Hope it's useful for someone else too! https://github.com/enjikaka/pocket-to-bookmark

Time to learn about service workers
He did let WP fuck it up with React too. Writing WP themes lets you experience the worst templating solution ever, especially post that. Crazy dude that one.
Re:200-year old heat pump technology is back on Sunday February 19, 2023 @03:16AM (#34855583)
Depends on the outside temp too. Best to monitor SCOP. My 180 m2 house with 18 degrees inside in January w ground souce heat pump (IVT Geo 508) and normal radiators ->

- SCOP: 3.88

- kWh used: 525 kWh

- kWh produced: 2034.8 kWh

- Outside min: -11.4

- …max: 5.65

- …mean: 0.3

Re:Programs are dead, and JavaScript has killed them on Tuesday December 13, 2022 @05:58AM (#33967151)
Tools like Babel emerged to bridge a compatibility gap between the evolving ECMAScript specification and the browser lacking behind implementing the new features. Then some "smart" people decided Babel would be a good thing to transform anything and thus React, JSX and the like were born. The problem emerged and took foot when we stopped polyfilling and transpiling the compability gap and instead built further on the powers of these tools and coupled us too tightly with them.

People need to learn to build on and use the platform. Do NOT learn React, Node.js or Tailwind. Learn HTML, JS and CSS. Use these in your projects and they will work forever.

The standards are backwards compatible and evergreen. Your walled garden withers.

Cows graze land that is not able to be farmed, and the globalized trade of plant material is dependent on Russian fertilizers. Plant based milk ofc comes out better when you don't count the complete lifecycles.

We burn the rest. :)

Lovely project and great use of WebGL!
Re:Success and Failure at Pebble on Tuesday April 12, 2022 @05:00AM (#31000200)
I really wanted a Pebble but they ceased production just as I was able to buy one back in the days. Still want one badly. All other watches suck.

Just tried it and it didn't match the real shade.
Re:Esbuild – An extremely fast JavaScript bundler on Thursday October 14, 2021 @05:35AM (#28862118)
I cannot count the days I've spend on webpack config breakage during the last years at work. It's never really been good at all either. The gulp setup we had before worked faster, better and didn't break once a month. Webpack really only is a pet project of the idiocratic React-community. Facebook not only screws your personal data over, also your dev workflow!

The best thing with Kobo is the Pocket integration
Re:Show HN: Weather API for non-commercial use on Tuesday September 14, 2021 @05:23AM (#28522191)
Nice project. As a developer I've tried to consume NetCDF and GRIB-files from Copernicus but that's a real pain. I like that you have soil temperature. I'll try to make that data useful for when I can plant next spring.
No need for such an element. It's such a private use case to display 3D models that it's better suited as a web component than an element in the standard. See for example <model-viewer> https://modelviewer.dev/
Or just use linnen...
The idea is great but the execution is so bad. Their APIs are very bad at both retrieving and posting data. (There are 50 different IDs for the same measure point, often hardcoded for certain sensors). The documentation is virtually non-existent except a few GitHub hints, mostly in german. They really need to shape up to get this going better!
In Webact I did a small tagged template literal with createContextualFragment. Very smooth.

https://github.com/enjikaka/webact/blob/master/src/helpers.j... https://github.com/enjikaka/webact/blob/master/src/helpers.j...

  html`<b>Hello world</b>`

returns a document fragment that you can just appendChild with. Super simple.
Re:Greta Thunberg has done her science homework on Monday September 16, 2019 @05:10AM (#20982272)
While climate sure needs attention, Greta is only a marionette. She only "became famous" to promote her mothers book [1] on climate change. Both the book and Greta are driven by a PR bureau [2]. And to be honest that's a disguisting way to use a child for self promotion.

Make a PWA and you cover Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android in one go.
Streams in the industry are payed out according to the pro-rata model, not the user-centric one. TIDAL, when being WiMP, helped with studies on this: https://musically.com/2015/08/18/user-centric-streaming-payo...

Re:Is Sugar Killing Us? on Monday December 12, 2016 @03:56AM (#13156663)
Just keep on going without sugar after December. See the December candy as a treat for being off sugar for a while. :)

I didn't eat - stuff with added - sugar for about a year a few years back. Was pretty nazi on it, didn't just cut down a little bit. I read all the labels and didn't even buy bread with added sugar or syrup etc. Lost 30 kgs. Never felt so good.

Sugar is poison, really should eat it. The best thing is that everything start tasting much better after cutting off sugar. It's amazing. Salt taste more, vegetables taste more. And if you're having a bad urge to eat something sweet, just drink water.

They don't.
