I was forced to read this in freshman English… it was awful. Realized you could make it say whatever you want and used that for the essay I wrote
What did you buy from where?
That's like what? $2-3 million worth of butter?

Doesn't seem like much for a factory right?

So ChatGPT can trivially solve the first advent of code problem

Highly recommend reading it, one of the greatest books I've read from a perspective of understanding the financial industry.
What’s your experience been? I also have never drunken, and really don’t plan on it.

My mistake was avoiding parties and socialization in college along with drinking.

Lol

We have no effective way of storing energy. If you only want energy on sunny windy days during daytime, this is fine. Enjoy the power going out at night and when the wind slows down.

Hopefully we will get much cheaper storage and production soon, but it's not completely viable now.

A lot of his earlier work with resveratrol was extremely sloppy and it fell apart in time. I believe it's a lot of what gained him earlier popularity, and has effectively been debunked to a very large degree.

I want to be in the office only 1-2x a week and WFH the rest.

Current amazon employee who started remote during the pandemic.

It is better. It’s just not perfect.
Giving $500/mo to everyone would cost like half of the current federal budget per year.
Re:America's 1% Has Taken $50T From the Bottom 90% on Thursday February 11, 2021 @05:38PM (#26108352)
The reality is it’s not the 1% it’s the 0.1% and 0.01%..
Homicides are up everywhere over the past year. Probably more related to covid, unemployment, and people going stir crazy than anything.
I work for Amazon.

Hahahahahahahahahaha no.

So many goddamn pointless meetings, approvals for everything, deployments, updates, planning meetings. Maybe I spent ~10 hour a week in meetings not counting the time that is lost waiting for a meeting to start and trying to get productive again after a meeting ends.

Amazon’s minimum wage is higher than the wage of 1/3rd of the workforce.
Re:The Purpose of Writing on Friday November 27, 2020 @05:23PM (#25233090)
Tim Ferriss frequently talks about the writing class he took with John McPhee (author of Levels of the Game) and how as he took that class, the grades went up in the rest of his classes.

He says it’s probably due to refined thinking from taking the class.

Re:Ask HN: What is your biggest problem? on Thursday November 12, 2020 @12:28PM (#25072158)
ADHD here as well. I used to spend ~6-8 hours on my phone a day prepandemic. By far my worst issue.

Now during the pandemic... more like 10...

The most important factor is hiring good people. Am once off prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Mortgage interest rates are significantly lower than they were 40 years ago.

Considering a large portion of mortgage payments go towards interest, this is a huge deal.

“Colonoscopies are very often done with anesthesia in the U.S., making them essentially minor surgical procedures. A 2016 analysis found that for every 1,000 colonoscopies, about 16 people will end up hospitalized within a week.”

I got diagnosed junior year of college, knowing sooner would’ve been very helpful.

Probably would’ve been more social in high school if I took meds because it probably would’ve been easier for me to complete homework, and I would have had more free time.

Re:Ask HN: Do you think 'normal' working will ever return? on Tuesday October 06, 2020 @11:07AM (#24698434)
I think this is teaching a lot of people how much of work is BS.

Now that a lot of the distractions and meetings are gone lots of people are realizing they really only work a couple hours a day and spend the rest dicking around or stuck in pointless meetings.

I’ve tried vyvanse and Ritalin, but neither seem to work nearly as well for me :(
