I know that nobody is asking for alternatives, nor my opinion, but Brave browser is great. Cool project

Re:Amazon donates $1M to Wikimedia on Tuesday September 25, 2018 @11:29PM (#18072523)
Amazon should be picking up the tab on the AWS costs. Great PR move, great for customer case studies etc and slash what is probably 2nd or 3rd biggest cost driver.
Re:AWS now supports U2F/Yubikeys on Tuesday September 25, 2018 @11:20PM (#18072475)
AWS often releases features very early, to satisfy the first tranches of early adopters before rounding out the feature with feedback from these passionate users.

AWS EKS is a good example for anyone who has had a play already.

Yikes. Thanks for sharing, this is noted.

Re:Software Contracts in the Age of React on Friday September 21, 2018 @03:18AM (#18037765)
Great read
Learning from others is invaluable.

Listen to the perspectives of those around you, but don't regurgitate what they say or follow what they say blindly. Ask them questions, challenge conventional wisdoms and ask "Why".

Experience is a form of bias and must always be taken with a clear head and a grain of salt.

My grandfather would always say: Advice is free, until you take it.

Good luck!

I quit a while back. One of the best things I have done

I don't think it's just Americans for what it's worth.
Re:List of Sites Affected by Cloudflare's HTTPS Traffic Leak on Sunday February 26, 2017 @03:47AM (#13736325)
The list of websites once again reminds me of what avenue Q immortalised in song: the internet is for porn

Re:Bacteria that resist 'last antibiotic' found in UK on Monday December 21, 2015 @05:51PM (#10774150)
Amen. Similar to climate change in the sense that the world's worst offenders need to be on-board to resolve the problem and as a result, all other countries will cop out by blaming and scapegoating those countries
"JavaScript Tooling Settles to Merely Chaotic" - haha, well put
I think there is definitely some of this at play. That being said, it is a totally sensible update to the semantics of twitter and I think still worthwhile.
You still can access a list of tweets you have liked, so this workflow hasn't really changed. It is just a long overdue change to the semantics.
Re:Evolution of Open Source at Netflix on Wednesday October 28, 2015 @09:50PM (#10468716)
So good to see companies that weren't 'OSS first' playing catchup and doing so effectively

Re:Twitter CEO Dorsey Apologizes to Developers on Wednesday October 21, 2015 @07:10PM (#10429466)
Interesting take on the future.

I agree about the current state of developer sentiment. I think anyone who looks at a company like Microsoft will see that developer sentiment isn't static. Might take years for things to change but I commend them for taking the right first steps towards rectifying the situation.

Re:Twitter CEO Dorsey Apologizes to Developers on Wednesday October 21, 2015 @07:05PM (#10429447)
I totally agree with you there. It is much more useful than LinkedIn for me in most cases.

LinkedIn still has a key benefit of not being overly noisy and not having bots/spam accounts.

Twitter though makes it far easier to connect with the right sorts of people.

If Twitter can clean up the signal/noise ratio and help with killing off spam accounts and bots, I think its potential can only grow

Re:Ask HN: Is there much future in the encryption hardware game? on Wednesday October 21, 2015 @06:50PM (#10429370)
Anyone have opinions on whether encryption hardware is a growing trend? Or is it simply a less relevant catch-all approach that will disappear with better security practises
